Like the name suggests the Burner doesn’t hang around. Super light-weight construction and serious carbon reinforcement take care of the stiff flex and instant response while the Sintered EG base and tapered shape make sure you won’t get stuck however deep the powder gets or crash out no matter how choppy the couloir run-out you’re straight lining becomes.

Ok so the Salvatore Sanchez is Salomons jib and park specific ride, the Drift is the park shred that’s capable on the whole mountain and the Grip is the powder and park booter destroyer. Which leaves a space for an urban jib noodle with more flex than a rubber band and spec that reads like it’s perfect for the task in hand, introducing the Salomon Salomonder.

Shoot from the hip with the Salvatore Sanchez. The Salomon Salvatore Sanchez is the perfect snowboard for any gringos who want spend most of their time getting loco on jibs, rails and park kickers. The best thing, it’s not so weak and feeble that you can’t take it out of the park and get creative on the whole mountain.

Salomon has made a couple of tweaks to the hugely successful Grip for 2011. The early rise nose and tail are now packaged with the Equalizer sidecut as Pow Rocqualizer. The early rise tips and low camber provide a little extra float for versatility in the deep stuff and a bit more pliability for jibs and short sharp transitions, and the Equalizer sidecut ensures edge pressure through each turn is distributed through the whole edge length. The Grip is a board with its snowboarding fingers in lots of pies. Take to the park or spend the afternoon playing about in the pow, as long as there is airtime involved the Grip has got your back.

The Salomon Drift Rocker is a versatile little number. The Drift is fun on jumps, capable on groomers and surprisingly good on jibs and rails. In our recent King of Jib test the Drift beat off the likes of the Signal Park and K2 WWW to place joint 6th with the DC PBJ. If you’re an intermediate freestyler and you want to put all of your eggs into one basket (i.e buy one board for everything) the Drift Rocker is a great choice.

Party popping park plank the Salomon Acid returns to the freestyle line-up for 2011 with an almost identical spec. The Sick Stick is completely unique, it’s almost centered stance and relatively short running length are two characteristics which give you the impression that you should be packing a snorkel in your backpack for big powder days. Somehow the pointed tips, slight taper, powder rocker provide enough float for the deepest of days. To keep the ride lively Salomon have kept the flex medium stiff, introduced bamboo into the laminates, milled the core in the Popster profile and dropped the PTex sidewalls for stylish bamboo numbers. One hell of a looker, and if powder hound Josh Dirksen is riding it, you know it rips!

Salomon rider, Bitish snowboarding superstar and twice US X-Games slopestyle winner Jenny Jones rides the Ivy. If Jenny chooses the Ivy to ride everything from 25 meter hard pack kickers to hips that send you 30ft into the air, it’s probably going to be good enough for you.

The all-mountain Salomon Titan returns for a second season. This year the Titan won’t feature Salomon’s Equalizer sidecut, instead the Titan features a quadratic sidecut and the Wingtips camber, trust me this is a great move! For freeride and groomer cruising performance the Titan is now a good choice. The new black paint job will probably appeal to those intermediates who like the look of the Burner but know their limits.

I’m probably right when I say you’re a little in the dark when it comes to the Salomon Special II. Well the Special has been doing the rounds for a couple of years, each year Salomon successfully lighten the Special and improve the base. Not surprising then that the illusive Special II has already been spotted on a number of riders flying out of the pipe at the New Zealand Open in Cardrona. A snowboard designed for experienced precision snowboarders who ride hard and fast.
