Bataleon 2012 Snowboard Reviews

Expect to see the Disaster’s distinctive Dollar graphics a lot next season, this board is going to sell like hot cakes with 50 dollar bills hidden within the tasty exterior. Jib specific TBT is new to the Bataleon line this season and maximises board on rail contact without compromising on the Bataleon catch-free feel. Bataleon’s Combat wood composite core is lively but damp making the Disaster a great board for urban rail rippers.

The Bataleon Omni is the kind brother of the black hearted Undisputed. It has the same slender directional shape and large sidecut radius for smooth stable carves and the Reactor Core and Triaxial fibreglass for grip, it also has the same sintered base and Freeride Triple Base Tech. Actually the only thing it’s missing are the Carbon stringers which run along the edge of the Undsiputed making the Omni a little less effort to tame.

A wise website once said “Keep your friends close but keep you Enemy+++ closer” . For true high spec Rolls-Royce performance with the feel of Triple Base Technology underfoot the Enemy+++ is the Bataleon snowboard that fits the bill.

In the infamous words of Technotronic: “Pump up the Jam, pump it up, while your feet are stompin’ and the Jam is pumpin’, look at here the crowd is jumpin’”. Was ever a truer pop song written about the more “pumped up” brother of the Goliath? With its All-Mountain TBT and Basalt stringers your feet will be “stompin” every jump, drop and transfer you can take the Bataleon Jam off.

The Bataleon Goliath is a giant in the world of all-mountain snowboards, don’t let its twin shape and Freestyle Triple Base Tech convince you otherwise. With Triaxial glass, a medium flex and Bataleon’s hardwood reinforced Core core the Goliath is designed to straight line double blacks and boost of rollers as much as it is designed to launch off transitions.

Lets not beat around the bush, the Feelbetter might be a new addition to the Bataleon range but we’ve seen it all before. It might be prettier and slightly narrower than its ancestor but the Feelbetter is essentially the Fun.Kink for women.

Another long serving snowboard from Bataleon, the Fun.Kink is a freestyle twin shaped snowboard featuring Bataleon’s Freestyle TBT and the new Tough core. Unlike the Evil Twin and Airobic, the Fun,Kink has a consistent flex throughout the board.

You like the shape of the Evil twin and Triple Base Tech is the business too, but it just doesn’t have the pop or stability you need for going huge. Well Bataleon has got your back; the Riot is made for people with exactly your predicament. It’s essentially the same snowboard as the Evil Twin but they stuck a shed load of Basalt reinforcement in the nose and tail for uber pop but kept the waist Basalt free so the Riot is still manageable and easy enough to ollie.

The Bataleon Evil Twin Artist Edition has graphics that are certain to upset the slightly more conservative locals on your ski hill… nope I can’t think of a downside either.

The celebrated original Evil Twin had such a fan club that Bataleon thought why change it? So they haven’t, the Evil Twin Classic retains the same geometry and TBT profile it’s always had, because you demand it!

Take the Evil Twin, soften it up a little, narrow the waist and add a feminine touch with some chic leopard and zebra print graphics and Bob’s your uncle you’ve got the Distortia.

Whereas the Disaster is built to take progressive snowboarding to the streets the Airobic is designed to be a better fit for the more rounded park and rail rider. The Airobic still has the extruded base, Combat core, biaxial glass laminates and Jib TBT of the Disaster in fact there’s very little to split the boards apart, the Airobic is just a little stiffer and the sidecut is a touch less tight.

If you are the kind of rider that takes a look at an impossibly steep line, hikes it and then bombs the lot in three turns the Undisputed is the snowboard for you. Its long directional shape is stable at mind bending speeds and the narrow flat area of the Freeride TBT base makes switching from edge-to-edge faster than the blink of an eye. Carbon keeps the board snappy out of turns and the Reactor core with its hardwood edges deals well with sketchy conditions when unconditional edge hold is essential.

The Violenza is a female specific all-mountain snowboard for girls that can no longer resist the pull of TBT tech. With it’s directional shape, grippy Triaxial fibreglass laminates and responsive All-Mountain Triple Base Technology the Violenza is best suited to female riders who want to charge the whole moauntain from peak to parking-lot.
