Windlip Woodstock - 2011

Woodstock was a one of a kind festival. All of the great, musicians of the time played and any hippy worth his flares had tripped on psychedelics in its hallowed fields. So you may be wondering why a small custom build snowboard brand making a handful of boards a season is naming its new release after probably the most famous music festival of all time (Glastonbury excluded), especially as they’re builing the boards in a tiny workshop hidden away in the Savoir (French Alps). It might be because the guys putting together the boards are old enough to have been to Woodstock, but it’s probably more likely to be because a Windlip Woodstock is also one of a kind. New to the Windlip, the high pricetage, customisable spec, premium handpicked materials and loving hand build will mean it stands out like the festival as a labour of love… damn I’m getting teary eyed writing this. The Woodstock is a stiff big mountain charger for the kind of freerider who values craftsmanship over gadgetry. Like driving a Bristol instead of a BMW.

This board is about speed, response and edge hold in the gnarliest of conditions. The powerful pro-rider flex make the “Woody” perfect for big lines and hard carving. It makes clean turns in powder, on-piste and blows away the competition on the boarder-cross course. With wood/carbon construction over a nano-tech base and a gorgeous coloured wood veneer top-sheet, this board has definitely got wood!

Upgrade the standard wood core for a Cold pressed bamboo and cork encapsulating a paulownia wood core, it’s our new ethical construction option. It’s light, strong and we think it out performs regular boards. We pioneered it as the eco rocket. We started experimenting with this build system 3 years ago. We have done performance and longevity tests on it and now we feel its time for general release as our “Ethic option”. Cork and bamboo are both sustainable crops, the core is the fast growing and waterproof Paulownia wood and there is no carbon or fiberglass involved. So it all adds up to a low impact environmentally friendly board. Couple that with the fact that its cold pressed in France by us and you get a carbon foot print that’s as low as we can go!
