Snowboard Review:

The K2 Slayblade is an all-mountain slayer built for an intermediate to advanced versatile rider looking for a decent board to progress on or take to the hills for a season. The base was fast and the sidecut and torsional flex meant that I could exaggerate lateral movements when carving because I knew the edge would hold…..in short, a nice bit of Euro carving! The slayblade is nicely dampened below the feet and is really stable at high speeds which is great, providing you’re not heavily into jibbing and trying technical tricks onto kinked rails. It had a nice level of pop and both take-offs and landings on kickers and natural features were really stable. All in all this is definitely a worthy successor to the Zeppelin.

Brian - That seems about right to me.

Erin - The Machete is a softer snowboard with rockered tips instead of zero camber. The Machete would suit an intermediate snowboarder looking to improve their snowboarding but not wanting to be confined to the park.

I’m seriously considering this board in a 156cm. I’m 5’6” and 145 lbs, used to riding a 159cm Lib Tech Emma Peel, which is definitely on the large side for me, but I’ve become used to it despite it being unwieldy for anything in the park and giving me a total workout. I ride all-mountain but with a preference to shredding diamonds. Do you think the slay is a good choice?

I’ve been boarding since 1989 and have ridden a bunch of different boards over the years.  I am a powder hound and rider who likes a board on the groomers which will hold and edge and allow me to carve hard while absorbing the terrain.  I have been searching now for several years for a board to replace my old Palmer Circles and is as much fun to ride as my K2 Eldo.  This is it!  I was concerned with the 161 CM being possibly too short but length for me was a non-issue.  The board will stay on edge as long as I can hold it.  It is lightning quick from edge to edge and will but you on your rear if you aren’t riding aggressively.  It is very stable and a blast to ride.  I have been thru 4 different boards in the last 4 years and this is it if you are looking for a great all mountain board that is super quick edge to edge and very stable at higher speeds.

Hey so I’m looking for a solid free ride board and i can’t decide between the Slay and the TD… Which is better for all-mountain?

Simply put, I’d say got with the TD when riding mostly pow and go with the Slayblade in case you are spending most of your time on the piste. The TD is more like a pow/park board, the Slayblade probably is the better allmountain ride.
