DC PBJ Aaron Biittner Pro - 2011

/images/brands/dc/logo/dc_logo.gif

Completely redesigned for the 2010/11 season the new PBJ is even more jib specific. Perfect for getting your urban jib on, wall rides, butters and concrete ledge presses, if you can wax it, you can slide it on the PBJ. However, with its new rocker profile and Astro composite wood core the Aaron Biittner is a little sketchy on big transitions when the speed gets cranked up.

Manufacturer's Description:

A stark contrast from his debut signature model board from last season, the PBJ BIITTNER PRO has an unexpected and awfully cheery graphic. The PBJ is the ideal board for a rider like Aaron Biittner—built for the urban assaults and backcountry bombs.

2011 DC PBJ Aaron Biittner Pro Video Snowboard Review

I owned last seasons DC PBJ and have been shredding it for the tail end of the season, and to be honest with you I absolutely loved everything about it. To top it all off the graphics were off the chizzle! Anyhow, this years PBJ is a total transformation in every respect! Where do I start, it’s just a completely different board! For one, this seasons model is rockered which feels great for buttering, pressing and messing around on piste and also works that little bit better in the pow pow, on the other hand, if you thought last year’s PBJ was soft, this years flex is unreal! I used to love super soft boards and that’s what I’ve always ridden, but one of the reasons why I loved last seasons PBJ is because it wasn’t obscenely soft, the flex was perfect, so I could still hit kickers with it. I mean, it was Torstein Horgmo’s board so if it’s good enough for Torstein… I’m guessing you’ve seen Torstein’s section in Standard Films’ Black Winter?

Its going to be interesting to see whether the DC pro’s will be shredding the new Aaron Biittner PBJ, because it’s a little less versatile than last year’s. To be frank, I wouldn’t trust the new reverse camber PBJ hitting huge park booters, it’s just too insanely soft & playful, I found the that the reverse camber meant almost certain wash out if I landed tail heavy on landings. However, take the new PBJ to the jibs and you’ll find its element, pressing felt TOO EASY and rail approaches were easy with last minute adjustments being instant! Don’t get me wrong, the PBJ is a really good board if you just want something to play around on and have an easy time with, but personally I just don’t think its anywhere near as good as last seasons PBJ. However, the new core does make it much lighter which is nice, but that’s the only pro for this years PBJ Vs last years board, it’s just too jib specific.
