In the past the Decoy has been a bit of a handful. The firm flex between the feet and in the nose and tail meant the Decoy really was a board for advanced freestylers. For 2011 the Decoy has kept all the good bits like the standard issue Rossi 4.4k sintered base which when waxed is easily one of the fastest on the market; a tight progressive sidecut for stable landings and takeoffs and instance response; and Carbon and Kevlar reinforcement for uber pop and charging capability. To make the Decoy more accessible the guys at Rossignol have introduced all new Freestyle Amptek. By moving the start of the rocker closer to the tips they’ve increased the depth of camber between feet, a compromise between Amptek and camber. The result is a less catchy ride which has retained a poppy nose and tail. The softened flex between the bindings increases playfulness. Expect other brands to be watching Rossignol’s new Amptek variations very carefully.
Bursting with tasty treats, wholesome features and fuller flavor.
Cut from the same cloth as last year’s Decoy, we one-upped every aspect of its ride with the AmpTek Freestyle: it pops turns interplanetary, edges hold with Kung Fu grip, response is immediate, fun and irresistible. Whether it’s the park, the pow or the playground, the new Decoy will slay it all to pieces.

Watch the 2011 Rossignol Decoy Video Snowboard Review

I’m not surprised to have to tell you that Rossignol have created another killer board for 2011. The Decoy, which was Rossignol’s cambered freestyle-specific snowboard for last season has had the magic wand waved at it and now has Rossignol’s new Freestyle Amptek profile, which is Rossignol’s newest camber/rocker hybrid. The difference being that the Freestyle Amptek has a slightly longer camber and consequently the nose and tail have a slightly shorter, but more aggressive, rocker.
Last years Decoy was accused of being nice and soft in the middle of the board but a bit too stiff, both longitudinally and laterally, in the nose and tail. Well the Freestyle Amptek has really changed the Decoy’s flex characteristics for the better, not only making the Decoy an easier board to ride but also allowing it to perform better at all aspects of riding. Although the nose and tail have remained fairly stiff (7/10) the rocker has meant that initiating turns is easier and that pressing on boxes and buttering are a piece of cake. Also, the Amptek has meant that the Decoy is very poppy, even at low speeds, and has a lot of energy when exiting carved turns.
The 2011 Decoy really was one of my favourite boards at the test due to its versatility and playfulness; it’s stable when you’re carving and straight-lining at high speeds; it’s easy to control and jib at low speeds; it has large amounts of pop at all speeds; it locks nicely onto rails and boxes; and it is solid underfoot on sketchy landings. Complete beginners to the Worlds top freestylers will all be able to ride this board anywhere on the mountain they desire; whatever level you are you won’t stop progressing on this board.

I tried the board for 2 months, absolutely amazing performances on hard packed snow or icy conditions. Very agressive in the park. True twin so Nice to ride switch. Very good POP! It outpassed my Angus. Made in Spain! My 4th Rossignol board for this year, my favorite! Not for the graffics…
