Bataleon Riot

Snowboard Review:

If the Evil Twin is the Bataleon family’s doting Labrador, the Riot is the snarling Rottweiler. Immediately I noticed how much firmer than the Evil Twin the flex was on the Riot in every orientation, but you can tell that from reading the spec; the Riot has upgraded Biax/Triax glass to Quadraxial, and on top of Carbon stringers Bataleon have added Kevlar. Oh I almost forgot the rubber damped sidewalls too. This board is pumped!

My first impressions of the Riot were insane! The riot packs a super hefty pop and was extremely super stable when charging fast. Extra triple base technology has been applied to this all mountain freestyle board which means its near enough impossible to catch an edge, but not impossible of course, and the quadraxial glass means it’s that little bit more responsive to body movement. So please don’t think you won’t or can’t!! I’ve always been a fan of the triple base so I found the Riot fun to ride, however, if this board wasn’t loaded with TBT I wouldn’t want to take it into the park.

The Riot felt a little bit on the heavy side for me but with all those extra laminates, I’m not surprised. It held an edge really well off the big kickers and also in the pipe, these are the areas that the Riot is designed to dominate. Because of the firm flex, I didn’t have that much fun with it on boxes but this isn’t what this board is designed for after-all. The RIOT is stiff, built for charging and going BIG and if that’s what you like and how you ride then this could be a perfect board for you and you’ll no doubt love this beast!  Defo worth a try if you’re into monster transitions and gnarly 50mph landings. Best suited to advanced freestyle riders who are certain they like stiff snowboards.
