A surprise hit last year the NDK Advanced’s medium to soft flex and park focused shape meant it was the idea board for taking apart to any obstacle in the snowboard park. For 2011 the NDK Advanced gets the new Freestyle Infinity Camrock profile, K2 call it Jib Rocker; flat zero camber between the feet with early rise nose and tail. Expect an even more flexible and forgiving park stick, ideal for fun and progressive freestyle days.

So JMZ has got a pretty cushy job as the graphic designer working on the Nidecker board line. From picking the best frames from a shoot with Pammy Anderson to the, shall we say minimalistic graphics on the THU, it’s not exactly a hard life! The THU uses a similar shape and Camrock profile to the NDK Pam but changes the glass from biaxial to triaxial for a firmer torsional flex and a touch more grip.

Pamela Anderson doesn’t half look good for her age. If you had Pam on your wall as an adolescent male, Nidecker have created your dream freestyle snowboard. I could bore you with details like the Camrock (sorry Pamrock) profile and the 8800 grade sintered base or I could leave you to look at the topsheet graphic. Sold to that man with a banana in his pocket!

Antti Autti signed to Nidecker last year, many think his pro model has been a long time coming! Code named the Yeah BAAby, Antti’s pro model is very Austin Powers themed even down to the barnet at the nose of the board. With Triaxial glass, a cambered profile and 8800 grade sintered base expect a board that will power you out of superpipe and giant kicker transitions. From what we’ve heard these boards will be available exclusively from Antti’s blog anttisworld.com.

Nidecker’s Engineers must be reading Snowboard-Review.com! last year we thought the Random was just too stiff to be enjoyable doing anything other than pointing it straight and hanging on for dear life. This year Nidecker has softened the flex making it a much more manageable snowboard; which should catapult the Nidecker Random straight back into the park rider’s hit list.

When John Lydon aka Johnny Rotten isn’t appearing in Country Life butter adverts and distancing himself from his past glory it appears he’s got Nidecker paying him a nice wedge to create Punk board graphics for the Prime. Actually John’s got nothing to do with the Nidecker Prime; with its versatile directional shape and Kevlar reinforced triaxial glass the Prime is good enough to sell itself. Johnny Rotten can carry on cashing in and selling out.

Last year I would have quite happily labeled the Nidecker Ultralight the easiest to ride, high performance freeride snowboard on the planet. Now the Ultralight has inherited Freeride Camrock rocker/camber hybrid profile it is more nimble and even better in powder… oh and even easier to ride! The Ultralight burns the rule book when it comes to construction, the wood core is fabricated from wood plies bonded together with the heat generated from friction; the edges come with the option of Ultimate Grip as serrated edge that cuts into ice like a bread knife; then there’s the 3D core profiling. There’s no denying the Ultralight is special.

World beating Nidecker technology meets Big Mountain animal in the legend. If you watch Relentless Energy Drink’s video ‘The Lives of Artists – Follow me Down’ you’ll see feeride superstar Jeremy Jones riding a Legend for the really steep and hard conditions, Jeremy might have his own brand (manufactured by Nidecker of course) but he knows that when it comes to riding extreme terrain, the Nidecker Legend is the board for the job. For expert freeriders only, this board is as specialist as it gets.

The Megalight is one of the longest serving models in the Nidecker range, its design has always been one of the most cutting edge in snowboarding. From the Freeride camrock profile to the Master Composite core, the Nidecker Megalight is a snowboard that design and spec wise is 2 generations of evolution ahead of any other board on the market within its price bracket.

JMZ the graphic designer behind YES Snowboard’s distinctive branding is responsible for Nidecker’s latest park ride’s paint job. The funny thing is, the graphics aren’t the only similarity that the all new Nidecker Slam has with Yes Snowboards. With Freestyle Camrock an Asymmetric sidecut, twin shape and triaxial fibreglass laminates mean if you close your eyes you could be riding the slightly softer twin of the YES Dudes.

If your idea of a good days riding is sessioning picnic benches, tweaking out styled blunt slides on a C-box and nailing 360 tail tap reverts the Nidecker Vibes is right up your street. The Vibes is a freestyle twin tip snowboard featuring Nidecker’s Camrock camber/rocker hybrid profile and an extruded base for buttery rail control and easy maintenance. As well as die hard jibbers the Vibes would suit beginner and intermediate freestylers.

Last year the Nidecker Legacy looked like a bit of a Mark Frank Montoya graphic rip-off; well, you will be pleased to hear there’s nothing suspect with the graphic this year, it is much better and so is the profile design. Last year our head of testing Tom felt that the camber section of the Camrock profile was too shallow for a freeride board. Nidecker must have been listening because they have made some clever little changes for the 2011 release. Firstly they’ve doubled the camber depth between the bindings, meaning control will definitely move to the rider’s feet instead of pivoting at the centre of the board like it did last year. Secondly, Nidecker have increased the rocker at the nose and reduced the degree of rocker in the tail, meaning there’s more float and a bit more tail for slashing powder banks and popping off cliffs. We can’t wait to test the Legacy this year!

The Nidecker Platinum seems to miss out on all of the attention it’s more sophisticated and slightly more expensive siblings the Legend, Ultralight and Megalight get. The Platinum is an unassuming drag racer in an everyday family saloon’s bodywork. With a stiff flex, camber profile and more reinforcement than Lolo Ferrari’s underwear the Platinum is an ideal board for advanced riders looking for a board for carving groomers, tearing apart the boardercross course or laying down big ol’ powder rooster tails.

The new Nidecker team favourite the Gang Band meets the needs of those riders looking for a cambered board to take to the snowboard park and the local handrail laden street spot. Don’t worry about camber catchiness; with one of the longest sidecut radii in the Nidecker line up, the Gang Band will suit those who prefer to cruise between park features than carve hard into pipe transitions.
