Last year’s King of Jib winner the Never Summer EVO sees few changes for 2011, the most noticeable change is the blunting of the tips to reduce overall length and swing weight. For park and rail riders who still want a snowboard that will perform on the rest of the mountain regular and Switch, the EVO is a force to be reckoned with.

Marketed as the bridge between the popular all-mountain Never Summer SL and the even more popular park focused EVO the Proto fits its pigeon hole like a glove. As powerful and damp as the SL but softer between the feet and twin shaped like the EVO the Proto CT delivers for all-mountain riders who are increasingly finding themselves riding park jumps and halfpipe. A bit stiff for rails but certainly more suited to sliding metal than the SL.

Never Summer SL Split - 2012 0 Never Summer SL Split user review(s).

Take Never Summer’s most popular All-Mountain freestyle snowboard, buy a circular saw and cut your new board straight down the centre. Next buy a heavy duty varnish or Varathane and coat the inside edge without getting too much on the base. Once you’ve done this, it’s time to drill tons of hole and mount your Voile hardware.  Now fill in the holes with resin and push Ptex disks into them, leave to dry and then sand the proud disks with progressively finer sandpaper until it is super smooth. Or buy the SL split and save yourself a good few days of hard work and the potential of making a complete hash of a mint snowboard.

If skinning-up at the bottom of the hill means splitting your board and getting on the climbing skins, not rolling a Camberley Carrot to blaze on the lift the Summit Split is worth considering. Designed for the deep days when snowboarding becomes more like surfing the tapered shape, damp feel and RC tech combine to create the ultimate slashing machine.

Never Summer Pandora - 2012 0 Never Summer Pandora user review(s).

The Lotus covers Big Mountain and Freeride snowboarding for Never Summer’s women’s line and the Infinity has got all-mountain riding covered so I guess that means the Pandora is the park and pipe deck. Torsionally softer than the Lotus and Infinity and lighter on the reinforcement, the Pandora is designed to butter and bonk with the best boards on the planet and at the same time provide less experienced snowboarders with a great board to learn on.

The Summit is one of the lesser known boards in the Never Summer range. On first inspection its spec reads much like the better known Raptor, the flagship of NS’ freeride offering. Although the Summit is firm flexing, damp and fast like the Raptor, it is designed to be more agile and surfy in powder, thanks to 20mm of taper, a 50mm setback stance and a low volume tail kick.

Never Summer Lotus - 2012 0 Never Summer Lotus user review(s).

The Lotus is a slimmed down and softened-up version of Never Summer’s freeride classic the Premier F1, designed specifically for women. Damp and directional with a low volume tail kick for easy float in fresh snow and minimal back leg burn, the Lotus should be ridden hard and fast over any terrain and snow conditions you’re likely to encounter on a mountain.

Never Summer Infinity - 2012 1 Never Summer Infinity user review(s).

Never Summer have spent years tuning their all-mountain champion, the SL. How could they deny half of the world’s population the chance to enjoy true all-mountain versatility and performance? Well they couldn’t, so they slimmed down the SL, softened it up and reduced the weight, this new female specific version of the SL is called the Infinity.

Never Summer Revolver - 2012 1 Never Summer Revolver user review(s).

No it’s not a handgun with a cool spinning chamber; the Never Summer Revolver is the fat version of the EVO, approximately one centimetre wider at the waist so that people with size US11+ feet can enjoy its poppy and forgiving ride.

Never Summer SL - 2012 2 Never Summer SL user review(s).

Some might say that last year’s SL was as good as it gets, the board certainly has a comprehensive fan club, but Never Summer found a few bits and pieces to tweak. Changes focus around the Custom Flight Core which has been profiled differently to reduce weight and increase pop. Other than that the SL remains pretty much the same, providing the powerful flex and damp all-mountain feel and performance it’s famous for, from pow to pipe the SL rips.

Never Summer Premier F1 - 2012 1 Never Summer Premier F1 user review(s).

The fact that the Premier F1 is the dampest snowboard that Never Summer makes speaks volumes about this big mountain charger. Carbon V reinforcement keep the torsional stiffness solid for great edge hold and the RDS 1 elastomer foil dampening system will keep that edge from skipping out on sketchy snow conditions. Like all of their snowboards, Never Summer has slapped a 3 year warranty on the F1 so you can be sure it is built to last.

Never Summer Heritage - 2012 0 Never Summer Heritage user review(s).

Borrowing Carbonium technology from the Raptor the Heritage is now an even more a powerful, twin shaped big mountain freestyle rocket. Heavily damped to absorb sketchy bombed-out landings and equipped with Never Summer’s RC tech to aid with float and to make the Heritage more manageable than it might otherwise be, it’s a board for experience freestylers who take their tricks to natural transitions and big drops.

Never Summer Raptor - 2012 8 Never Summer Raptor user review(s).

New to the Never Summer line-up last season the Raptor made quite an impression, in fact we were gob-smacked. Combining directional RC tech with a good deal of dampening, a firm powerful flex and a surprisingly tight sidecut, the Raptor rails incredible medium and long radius carves and as soon as you shift your weight to initiate the opposite edge, the snappy cambered tail throws you up and into the next turn, it’s exhilarating. For 2012 Never Summer has trimmed the tail of the Raptor into a stubby point which will improve float and reduce back leg burn in powder. It might be expensive but the ride is completely unique.
