The 2010 Snowboard Test

The Snowboard Review test team is back from the 2010 snowboard test, a week of putting the 2011 season’s snowboards through their paces. What with Icelandic volcanoes spewing out clouds of ash and paralysing the UK’s airport industry and a week of the most appalling May weather I’ve ever seen, I was blown away by the fact that the Snowboard-Review team were able to test almost 100 snowboards!

Yep we are completely exhausted after a solid six days of testing! We have tested everything from the eagerly awaited Jones Snowboards range to the surprisingly good Stepchild Headless Horse Man and the all new pipe slaying Burton T7. With conditions varying from hard icy pistes and cloudy skies to whiteout served with a side dish of 12 inches of fresh pow, we’ve put the boards through their paces in every conceivable condition.. except for May sunshine that is!

For next season as well as the usual in-depth test based reviews you guys love, with the support of Peak Leaders Snowboard Instructor courses we’ve also put together a handful of video reviews in glorious HD, be sure to check back in the fall for Snowboard Review TV!

For the 2010 Snowboard Test, Snowboard Review was stoked to enlist two new riders to the test team. Ben Molloy a full time snowboard instructor based in Verbier Switzerland joins the team along with the biggest personality in UK snowboarding Mr Mikee Chen.

Ben’s time spent in the mountains of Verbier learning the mechanics of riding and putting his preaching to practice make Ben the ideal tester for finding progressive snowboards that will help riders progress through the infancy of their snowboarding careers. Ben is also the owner of an insanely fast, gas-guzzling V8 350hp Audi S4 which fired the Snowboard Review team to the Kaunertal Glacier each morning, and scared UK Grenade Gloves distributor Nick so much he refused to travel in the car ever again.

When it comes to rails and jibs, Mikee is the man! Mad steeze paired with infinite enthusiasm and huge pop mean Mikee is the best man to recommend a jib stick. Mikee is also passionately involved with ‘For Boarders By Boarders’ or FBBB for short, a one of a kind snowboard and skate events company putting some spice back into the UK Snowboard scene.

it will be very useful if you will make a feature “last reviews” on the website or sort board reviews by year

That’s exactly what we will be doing. Right now, we only have a handful of 2011 boards listed, and none reviewed but when the motherload above hit, we’ll be adding controls to allow you to browse by year.
