Every May the Snowboard-Review.com team head out to the Kaunertal Glacier, in Austria, to ride the following season’s snowboards. This year we managed to ride over forty of next season’s boards and put-together some really informative reviews which we’ll drop on the site in August. Here’s a short, but dramatic, teaser to wet your appetites.
The Snowboard-Review.com board test teaser 2012
This year’s team consisted of the irrepressible Mikee Cee from FBBB, Rich and Tom, and a new team member for this season Ally McMorland who spends his time working alongside Mikee for FBBB and shredding rails at indoor slopes around the UK. Due to the interest in online video reviews we decided to make all of our reviews ‘video reviews’ so although we managed to test fewer boards this season they’ve all been reviewed in short and concise video format. Obviously we’ll be reviewing more boards throughout the season and we’ll be uploading the usual information for as many boards from as many brands as we possibly can. Keep your eyes peeled for these online video reviews, which we plan to drop in August, and further articles about the test.

hey,
have you tested a 2012 burton hero? I want to know whether the new squeezebox is as good as it sounds.
I’m riding a custom x @the moment - great fun @ speeds / pow and jumps - but hard to play around with it. That’s why I’m going to buy a hero 2012
any information for me? when will you release your review?

Didn’t test the Hero but we tested the Custom Squeezebox. Squeezebox is the business! It is definitely an improvement on the negative core profile for reverse camber and the flying V profile.

I Still can`t wait… nice List ... but just missing Gnu Riders Choice or some Capita… but the rest of the list is very good Can`t wait… Personally I will follow a lot Rome Mod Rocker, Never Summer, Rossignol, Smokin and Lib Tech…

Yeah no Capita boards this year… not sure how that happened. I would have like to have tried the Black Snowboard of Death but appart from that I don’t think there are so many changes in their line. The Nas board which is the replacement for the Mid Life would have been nice to ride but I guess it’ll have to wait ‘til next season unless we get an opportunity to test one next season.

hi again,
ok I got it - you haven’t tested the hero ;( I personally own an custom x 2010 and I’m thinking of selling it to buy a 2012 customx (2cm longer). Due to the fact that the 2012 model has squeezebox - do you think there is a noticeable different @ the new custom x due to squeezebox? or is it only noticeable @ v rocker constructions?
sorry for not waiting for the reviews - but I’m in an pre order process - that’s why I’m asking for some advice.
(I will definitively buy the hero 2012 - but the exchange of custom x 2010 vs 2012 is not sure yet - I would appreciate some advice)

Hi Mo,I only got to test the squeezebox core on the Custom Flying V where the new core profile is noticeable. Having ridden last year’s Custom X I’m not sure why they are changing it to Squeezebox as the positive core profile gave the X a great torsional and longitudinal flex pattern. I wouldn’t change-up unless you get a chance to test the new Custom X with squeezebox because I think the 09/10 and 10/11 are awesome boards.

hi rich,
okay thanks so far - thought you might have a look @ the conclusion of the X test part of the upcoming review
hard to decide cause I can get a 2012 X for a very good price and there is already a buyer for my 2010 X both together = small amount of money to pay extra for a new one
tough decision, mo
