Snowboarding and music go hand-in-hand like cheese and biscuits or Bonny and Clyde. In many cases a good sound track can make or break a big release movie. It’s all well and good seeing Travis Rice Miller Flipping a 60ft Pine Tree but if he’s doing it to the sounds of 80s one hit wonder Rick Ashley it loses a little pizazz. This month’s Every Third Thursday takes the relationship between music and snowboarding even closer with the creation of a Signal Bass Guitar put together with the help of the world’s most famous guitar manufacturer Fender. Once again Signal have excelled themselves creating a seriously entertaining webcast that’s worth a watch.

The season hasn’t even started and yet brands are dropping late releases on us left, right and centre… give us a chance, we haven’t even got the early releases up on the site yet! We thought GNU’s latest release was worth a news post as GNU is releasing a pro model for long time rider Jamie Anderson. NoCal resident Jamie has been crushing the competition on the slopestyle course for a good few seasons now, our head of testing (perhaps a generous title) was in Sierra at Tahoe all of last season and said Jamie was killing it in Sierra’s many parks all season, so the prospect Jamie having input in the design of the Ladies Choice is exciting.

Jeremy Jones has been a busy man of recent, two years ago he dropped his long time hardware sponsor Rossignol to start Jones Snowboards with Henry Nidecker and then at the start of the summer he announced that he would be dropping Scott optics and Bern helmets to ride for Swedish company POC. Now Jeremy has signed to the new name in splitboard touring bindings, Karakoram. This isn’t a complete surprise as there have been images circulating around the internet of Jeremy’s board featuring the new Karakoram system, in fact most people expected Jeremy to commit to the new system on his line of splitboards for the coming season, however this season Jones boards continue to use the Voile system. This move is a shrewd one by Jeremy, there’s no doubting that the considerably more expensive Karakoram system is more advanced than Voile’s Split Decision set, but this move will certainly put the cat amongst the pigeons; we expect Voile to be working their R&D team to the bone over the next 12 months, which can only be a good thing for splitboarding.

Just in case you’ve been stranded on a desert island or been hiding under a rock for the past six months, Eiki and Halldor Helgason two of the most annoyingly talented and charismatic individuals in snowboarding recently launched a snowboard brand called Lobster. The lads are launching their new range of boards which feature Bataleon’s Triple Base Technology on their new website this coming week on August 16th at 9:00pm CET (that’s Central European time didn’t you know). The exciting part is that along with launch of the site Lobster will be releasing some “Secret Graphics” boards. You can read all about it in the press release below:
