Jeremy Jones has been a busy man of recent, two years ago he dropped his long time hardware sponsor Rossignol to start Jones Snowboards with Henry Nidecker and then at the start of the summer he announced that he would be dropping Scott optics and Bern helmets to ride for Swedish company POC. Now Jeremy has signed to the new name in splitboard touring bindings, Karakoram. This isn’t a complete surprise as there have been images circulating around the internet of Jeremy’s board featuring the new Karakoram system, in fact most people expected Jeremy to commit to the new system on his line of splitboards for the coming season, however this season Jones boards continue to use the Voile system. This move is a shrewd one by Jeremy, there’s no doubting that the considerably more expensive Karakoram system is more advanced than Voile’s Split Decision set, but this move will certainly put the cat amongst the pigeons; we expect Voile to be working their R&D team to the bone over the next 12 months, which can only be a good thing for splitboarding.

Karakoram is proud to announce a partnership with Jeremy Jones, renowned big mountain snowboarder and owner of Jones Snowboards.
The partnership will combine Jeremy’s legendary backcountry freeriding experience and Karakoram’s innovative design capabilities with the goal of delivering products that redefine the backcountry experience for snowboarders around the world.
“We started Karakoram to create backcountry snowsports equipment that challenged the norms and provided performance beyond expectations. The opportunity to work with Jeremy on this journey will bring a perspective destined to help take our designs and products to the next level. Jeremy is truly an inspirational rider and we are beyond excited to be working with him as part of Karakoram,” says Bryce and Tyler Kloster, co-owners of Karakoram.
Jones had this to say about the newly formed partnership, “Over the last year and a half I have tested the Karakoram splitboard system extensively in some of the most challenging terrain in the world. By the middle of this past winter it was clear to me that it is the best system on the market and is evolving at a very fast pace due to the expertise and commitment of the Kloster brothers. I am honored to be partnering with Karakoram and I look forward to continuing the evolution.”
Jeremy Jones is a nine time winner of Snowboarder Magazine’s Big Mountain Rider of the year and the creator of Jones Snowboards. His latest endeavours have him traveling the world and his own backyard in search of and filming the ultimate splitboard adventures.
Based out of Snoqualmie, Washington, Karakoram is an independent backcountry snowsports company started by snowboarders who demanded more from their gear. Karakoram’s first product, the Split30 splitboard binding system, was introduced to the market during the 2010-11 season. For more information about Karakoram visit www.splitboardbindings.com
