Prior MFR - 2010

/images/brands/prior/logo/prior_logo.gif

Prior’s point and charge freeride gun. Under the pleasant exterior are the makings of a freeride beast. An Aspen and Maple core, triaxial glass and carbon stringers combine to create a responsive board with great edge hold on groomed pistes and icy couloirs and still provides plenty of on edge feel and feedback. Made for thrill seekers and speed freaks with plenty of experience.

What colour is powder?

I just got my Prior MFR 172w. I got this board as my Pow board and as soon as I got the Board out of the box I knew it was going to be my board of choice for opening day, powder or not. I have not rode it yet but I could not believe how light it felt and how much detail was put into a hand made board. The top sheet is flat black and has the classic lion base.. I have not been this exited about a board in a long time… i will be sure to update this as soon as I ride it.

Have an epic opening day of the season!!

So I finally got my Prior MFR 172w out on the Mountain.. And all I have say is WOW! Don’t let the longer length fool you, this board is responsive. fast edge to edge in hard pack and SUPER FAST! It’s fun to cruse, but I had all the confidence when I got this board up to speed… if you are like me and Ride all conditions Especially the Pow then this it the board of choice…...

Let me just add to my season long review of my Prior MFR 172.. going out local before I flew to whistler 2 weeks ago and we are riding down the interstate when the rack on the roof gave way.. all the boards went flying off the roof at 70 mph!!! my prior wound up in the middle of a 5 lane highway base down.. it was run over at least two times.. Bindings were totally destroyed.. i ran out and got my board… Total Damage was to a Minimum.. little scuff to the base and impact was to the 1 inch part of the nose..I am still riding it. it is really a bomb proof board..i cant say enough about the quality of Prior.

Flew into BC Jan’ 2010 and picked up a MFR 168 hybrid rocker (suits my 105 Kg frame) I had pre-ordered. The finish of the board is awesome. Fitted some Ride alpha bindings and some Jackson (ride) boots and hit grouse and red mountain. The season has been variable, from Icy to soft and this board is confidence inspiring. This board can perform at high speed and carve beautifully in all conditions with easy edge to edge transition. I didn’t get a graphite base and I don’t think I need it, as it will fly without the extra slippy base anyway.

Rock solid performer, that I’d recommend for intermediate and upwards riders. This board will help you advance your skills but is not forgiving enough for learners, as it is stiff and can be aggressive if your not on your game.

For fast riding in all conditions the 172 is my favorite board, I’ve been riding one for three years—I ride many boards too, and I am a snob. Last week at Whistler I tried five more freeride boards, anything 26 or wider, 165 or longer, magentraction, rockered, etc—I liked my Prior better than all. Then I tried this years version, with the rockered nose, and fell in love. Rode it in fresh and hardpack. Great float, and silky smooth transitions on hardpack, and still stable. Must have one.
