GNU Danny Kass C2BTX - 2011

/images/brands/gnu/logo/gnu_logo.gif

Danny Kass has ridden for GNU for almost all of his professional career. The moment you step on his pro-ride you know that he’s got a realtionship with the guys at Mervin that has helped to create a very special snowboard. The perfect medium flex for all mountain freestyle snowboarding, Magnetraction for grip in all kinds of hard and icy snow conditions, a life saver if you’re hitting the pipe day-in-day-out and the C2 rocker/camber hybrid profile for more pop than an Alka Seltzer munching Seagull.

Manufacturer's Description:

Two time Olympic pipe silver medalist Danny Kass has added new C2 Banana Technology to his pro model. The perfect combination of camber at the tips and tails for pop and take off landing stability with Banana in between your feet for float and unreal carving on hard pack and ice. Danny took this board to the US Open and won the Pipe event for the 5th time. Awesome shredding on one ripping Banana! Mid wide waist widths, explosive twin shapes, fast growing farmed eco wood cores, handbuilt by snowboarders in the USA at Mervin Manufacturing. This board will help you make a great video part if you do some sick tricks and your buddies film them. Grenade’s Danny Kass says “It’s one amazing Banana! There is nothing better you can get on than a Banana. You gotta just do it!”.

Bought this ride as an all-mountain for our sometimes lackluster & icy riding conditions… ended up riding it 80% of the year. The magnatraction is great for most conditions, though I found I didn’t much like it when snow got deep or on back country steeps where I wanted a more forgiving edge; but it was damn good for biting into the hardpack when you really needed it. The C2 stiffens up the BTX pretty nicely and lets you really muscle through tough spots (hard turns, crud snow, big jumps.) pretty much what Kass does in the pipe. The Reverse did let me float fresh snow very well, and gave me predictable pop off the tail, and you can jib this board pretty well if you want to, but takes more effort (it’s not a noodle) and it’s not really what it’s meant for.

Bottom line is this is a better board for a more advanced rider that goes big, fast and can get aggressive charging the mountain terrain(like in a pipe, duh).

weekend warriors and park kids will be happier with something else.
