You had better start working out (and saving for that matter) if you want to ride the Rome Anthem SS this season. With CarbonBiax you’ll need to put hard work into it before you get the explosive recoil and feedback the Anthem SS is famous for, a bit like priming a cannon. Don’t forget the Carbon torsion forks and chatter removing Kevlar, it may be like riding a nitrous powered dragster, but it’ll be as smooth as a Rolls Royce at the same time. The Anthem SS also uses Rome’s pressure loaded camber/rocker hybrid profile so you’ll get float in pow and energy out of carves.
FEEL THE POWER, FLOAT THE POWDER
This is the high-tech Weapon of Mountain Destruction. Built on the innovative Hybrid Camber chassis that we introduced last year, the new Anthem SS has been overhauled with HotRods and PressurePop Technology. While the camber line lets it alternate between floaty pow slashes and high-speed roller ollies, the new technology focuses energy where the rider want to input it, reduces weight, and increases strength.

This board is super fun but there are limits. I tend to remember the things I dont like about snowboards more then the likes.
Here is what I dont like… When conditions werent ideal, this board is also not ideal. I have ridden other boards that were still fun in crappy icy crud conditions. To me, it lack the crud blasting capabilities that some of the other boards I rode have. It also tends to chatter out if you try to carve it when your going too fast, this also depends on the size you ride. I have a 159 and I’m 5’11 175lbs. Perhaps a 161 or 163 may better suite me to negate some of these issues I’m having but would sacrifice my freestyle preferences.
What I do like I must say that it is fun to carve thin lines on this thing. Powering through high G turns with limited slip is a better rush in my opinion then pointing the board strait down the hill and skidding to bleed your speed. I actually do agressivly work out my legs at the gym so I push alot of force through every turn and I feel the acceleration burst post apex on this board. The subtle rocker makes it very agile and not so hooky to lay it into the next turn smoothly. Again, you still have just as good of pop as a regular cambered board. Coming from a guy who owned a Custom X and a full cambered Rossignol JDUB at some time.
I took this anthem ss off of various size Kickers. The pop is there and very noticable. I would say that the Anthem SS has the MOST pop out of all Hybrid camber rocker boards I demoed so far. Hands down. I’m just starting to do back 3’s. I notice this board is very light for a 159. I was able to complete 360 rotations on small side hits while on other boards I would only make it up to 270. Probably because of the combination of the pop and lightness of the board.
I can compare it to an old Burton custom X that I had two seasons ago. I feel the ride on the anthem ss is superior because the hybrid camber gives it an advantage.
I’m looking forward to getting the Anthem SS into a half pipe and most of all into some deep powder.
