Lightest Snowboard of 2010?

For a brand that is responsible for some pretty serious snowboard hardware you don’t hear a lot about Amplid…In 2010 this is definitely going to change! With snowboard industry guru Peter Bauer at the helm things are really hotting up for Amplid, and the 2010 line-up has a little gem up it’s sleeve.

There aren’t many boards on the market that claim to be the lightest. The Elan Inverse and Burton Vapour are a couple of names that roll off the tongue, both undoubtedly superb sticks, but there’s a new name to add to this exclusive list…the Amplid Hi-Def. We managed to get a cheeky glimpse of this little beauty at the Slide Industry show in Manchester (UK) in Feb while everyone had their backs turned. Details of the board at present are very limited, apart from being extremely light. We know it has honeycomb inserts at the tip and tail to reduce swing weight, and special pre-impregnated laminate to reduce mass resulting from excess resin. Add this to a top spec 7700 grade sintered base and you are talking about one of the most exciting boards of the season. We’ll certainly be queuing at the Amplid tent to get first dibs at the board test.
