An interesting little press release found its way into the Snowboard-Review.com in-tray this morning. It looks like Amplid, one of Europe’s premium high-tech, high-quality snowboard manufacturers is getting some pretty good traction in South Korea. In fact Korea’s Ski and Snowboard communities are so into the brand that Amplid’s Korean distributor Baek Dong Joon is opening a Flagship store in the nation’s capital. Located in Seoul’s busiest snowboard shopping street (yes they have a street for snowboard shopping!), the store is completely devoted to Amplid gear… it sounds like heaven to us! And the best thing… it looks like an Amplid store could be opening near you with two more stores being planned for 2011.

Automaton Snowboards might be a company that you’re not familiar with but Brenton Woo and his loyal army of ‘Agents’ have been doing their thing, just under the radar, for over six years now; longer than companies like Signal and Omatic. Anyway, although Automaton rarely benefit from exposure in popular magazines and in the years big video releases; Brenton and his loyal followers have been stirring up quite a bit of controversy online with recent blogs on the Angry Snowboarder and Shay Boarder (our bitter rivals…..only kidding!). Brenton started Automaton as a way of turning his love for snowboarding into a career and although it’s been a slow process Automaton are finally making a small profit and, perhaps more importantly for Brenton, getting their message out there; that snowboarding is all about having fun and that ‘snowboarding saves lives’. Not from a physiological point-of-view but from the perspective that it’s relief from an otherwise boring and sometimes meaningless existence. Snowboard-Review managed to corner the tireless Mr Woo for twenty minutes and ask him ten questions about Automaton:

Snowboard-Review.com got wind that Reloaded (also known as Steve in the real world) was planning to head down to the Calgary premier of Absinthe’s latest blockbuster Now/here. We asked Reloaded to jot down a brief blog of his evening, so those not fortunate to be in spitting distance of a tour stop could share the experience… namely us. Damn our stranded little island!

A couple of weeks ago Tobi aka Zoryfl, Snowboard-Review’s forum guru and snowboarding gear aficionado emailed me from his native Deutschland about putting together a product guide for snowboard bindings. It appears 7 hours stuck on a train back to Berlin can drive a man to be pretty productive! With people asking more-and-more ‘what bindings should I be buying for the perfect set-up’ it’s about time I put a guide on the site, so here it is.
