2011 K2 Turbo Dream Video Snowboard Review

I rode last seasons ‘Turbo Dream’ and absolutely loved everything about it. For this seasons model, K2 have installed ‘harsh mellow’ dampeners around the feet to absorb any nasty vibrations that hard pack and crusty terrain brings. I must say that there does seem to be a slight improvement to the way the Turbo Dream deals with crud and super hard corduroy. I rode the turbo dream all over the mountain and it was solid, damp and super fun. I can see why this board is so popular all over the world among the snowboarders in the know, I’m envious of anybody lucky enough to own one.

K2 are certainly going from strength to strength with their snowboard range this season and I must say that the Turbo Dream is definitely one of the best boards from their line-up. If you’re looking for a board which you can take all over the mountain and ‘do-it-all’ on then the Turbo Dream for certain will not disappoint. This year’s graphics look even sicker than last seasons which I feel will boost the popularity of the board. A good looking, high performance package that will meet the needs of intermediate snowboarders who want to hit everything on the mountain with confidence.

What colour is powder?

I am an advanced intermediate rider, 6” and 170lbs. I ride mostly bowls, groomers, and trees. We get a good bit of powder in New Mexico and I like to play around with natural features, so pop is nice. Looking to do more freeride jibbing and switch. I also ride with a lot of skiers and find myself bombing down a run quite often. Not spending much time in the park.

So- I am looking at the 161 Turbo Dream… and I am really torn. I am somewhat worried about the backside washout (never owned a rocker) at high speeds, but I am weighing it against the potential benefit of REALLy fast edge to edge initiation and jibbability. Thoughts?

I am also considering the GNU Riders Choice. Thoughts?

I found a sweet deal on a 2010 Turbo Dream…is the only difference on the 2011 model the Harshmellow?

Flex, size, and tech seem to be exactly the same, except for Harshmellow.  I am trying to decide if I should snag the 2010 model at a great price or ante up and get the 2011.

Thoughts?

Yep the only real difference is the Harshmellow dampening. To be honest I loved last years TD, from what I hear the Harshmellow is a nice addition, but last years was killer so if you can buy it at a good price…

im beginning to feel pretty confident that this is the board i want. all im really looking for in a snowboard at this point, is to have fun. i do ride the park sometimes, but really, im too much of a chicken to go for the big air jumps. i love riding in and out of the slopes, into powder, taking on whatever natural small jumps that are found in the offpiste. and the transitions of course :) (if transitions is the edge of the slopes :) not really in to alle this board-lingo :P )

But it seems like the turbodream is the board for me. but i do have a question. i currently own a 155 Burton Un.Inc. from 09. i dont thank that its rockered? what is the main difference i will experience?

thanks :)

rode a td 156 last season for a week in telluride and absolutely loved it.  i’ve found a good local deal on a brand new 157w but i’m a little worried about the extra width for my size.  i’m 5’8” 150 size 9 i ride mostly all mnt terrain, hikes for pow any chance i get and rarely ride park.  any thoughts?

I need a new board for this season. I’m 14 and i’m thinking about maybe getting into pipe competition this year. I am currently riding a 2009 K2 WWW (cambered). I like the board, but because of the camber and the shortened nose and tail, (K2’s “jib tip”) it sucks in powder, which i like to ride whenever we get it. I’m thinking about getting an older model snowboard because I can’t afford a new one, maybe last years turbo dream or something, but it has to be able to perform in the pipe. I’m 5’8” and 125 lbs, boot size 9.5. I live in Maine near Sugarloaf, where seth wescott rides. Any ideas of a board thats right for me but that I can afford? or should i stick with my weapon?

This board seems to be similar to the Ride machete..I am tossing up between the two..Anyone have any experience of riding both?

Cheers
