The key to float in deep snow with small manoeuvrable boards is taper. Smokin got a-hold of that little secret and whacked a whole inch of taper onto the Pinner (the name a reference to the pintail shape if you were wondering). So with 25mm of taper the Pinner sits between the Burton Fish and Malolo with regards to the amount of taper, this ting will float! To loosen up the ride and provide even more float as if it was needed Smokin have used their D.I.R.T rocker profile (flat between the bindings and rockered at the nose and tail). If you’re riding Tahoe in 6ft of powder, the Pinner is probably a board to put in your board bag.
We set out to make a perfect fish. What we ended up with was a pin tailed shark. Turn your lowland powder days into a floaty funderland, and your big mountain gnarly charging pow steeps into effortless cruisers. With a severely setback stance and just the right amount of taper for maximum floaty action this board will eliminate the back leg burnathons anyone not riding this powder smasher has experienced. Available only with Magnetraction to handle the occasional chop and pack you may come across on a pow day.
Influences: Chest deep pow days, skateboard manoeuvrability in the backcountry, pow slashes that eclipse the sun, surfing, not shredding the deep stuff in the back seat, float through the flats, taking the road less traveled.
