Signal OG - 2011

Snowboarding legends Matt Hammer and Chris Dufficy have custom versions of the Signal OG. I can’t think of two better snowboarders to endorse an all-mountain freestyle snowboard. Designed for throwing down big tricks in the park and in the backcountry, the Signal OG’s sintered base, directional shape and set-back stance mean it will deal with park and powder missions and the medium flex make the OG accessible to snowboarders of all abilities.

Manufacturer's Description:

The OG Series is Signalís original all-mountain freestyle board. These boards are lightweight, directional, and torsionally responsive.

All OG boards are built with triaxial glass on the top of the core and biaxial glass weaves on the bottom. Stance options for each OG are set back one half-inch. The dual independent sidecut is centered off the inserts and meets at the waist.

We hand paint each OG top sheets. No two are the same. All OG bases are built using the Flotsam and Jetsam Rescue Project. We utilize reconstituted base material for new manufacture. This, too, allows each board to be one-of-a-kind with many different base combinations.

The OG 151 and OG 159 are also available in special colorways for Hammer and Duff. These boards have the exact same geometry as their standard OG counterparts, but weíve created special colorways for these riders because these are the sizes that they ride. If you ride either a 151 or 159 OG, then you have two graphic choices. Same great board!

This board rocks. It reminds me of a more poppy and lively version of the K2 Believer (cambered). The 157 has a great waist width that makes it stable both for carving and spinning. The sidecut is really nice and the board has an amazing amount of pop. I really wish I had known about this board before, I love it. It is great at speed, fun in the pipe and just a great all around deck. It rides switch pretty well and the “reclaimed” sintered base is one of the fastest I have ridden. The 157 weighs 6.4 pounds the same as a Nitro Team, but it is livelier than the Nitro and so it “feels” lighter on the mountain. I really can’t say anything negative about this board. The edges come 90/90 which makes for a board that tracks great on kickers.

A year ago I bought a Signal Park Rocker and I’m very happy with it. So to expend my collection I also had room for a Fast stable cambered board and the OG it was. The first day it didn’t feel good, I was in Germany and the slopes were very Icy. It should handle bad conditions very well but the board didn’t feel confident. Next trip I took it to the alpes and I also switched bindings. At first I used my Flow NXT AT and now I used some pretty stiff LTD low costh bindings. With this setup (and pretty stiff BOA coiler boots) and perfect conditions the board really rocked. Very fast, quick edge 2 edge and very stable. It took me some adjusting but it’s a great board and I got it for a great price.

One comment concerning Signal: I was looking for a more playfull and forgiving board to complete a collection off all mountain boards. I already had a K2 Slayblade and a Sapient PNB2. Reading Signals info this would be the board I was looking for. The Signal proofed to be stiffer and less forgiving than those boards even though the OG is only a 158 (The Sapient is 161 and de K2 is 164cm). This is absolutely not a board for a beginner.

Pro’s: - A great board for an experienced rider - Great graphics - The importer for Europa (Signal Europe snowboard) gives the best service I have ever experienced. Great guy and all he wants is to set you up with the most suitable gear. (hence the low cost LTD bindings witch make a great combo).
