OK, so I’ve had the Artec Novus for a bit now and taken it on a few trips here and in BC so I feel I’m qualified to write a review for it. :)

The Novus is a solid intermediate all-mountain board.  I’m riding the 158.  It has a twin shape with a directional set-back stance.

You get pretty good value on the board, a sintered base which has tasted quite a few rocks and only gouged out a bit.  The sidewall construction really cuts down on chatter on the choppers I have ridden a lot of (we are starved for snow out here, but it’s snowing as I type).  I’ve surprised myself by riding a lot faster then I anticipated and this board holds a mean line at high speeds.  Edge hold is pretty standard, nothing extraordinary.

The 4x2 insert pattern allows for lots of stance selection.  I have a pair of Salomon Relays which are really soft bindings (took me several days to get used to them), they partner well with the board now that I am used to feeling a lot more response while I ride.

The board core is made from fast-growth wood that is environmentally responsible which is nice.  Top that all off with a 2 year manufactures warranty and you have a great ride for a few seasons.

Oh, board graphics are nice.  The top sheet is laminated or something, really shiny but all your stickers will eventually come off which I found to be a pain (plus I slip off the damn thing a lot on the chairlifts).

Bottom line a solid intermediate all-mountain board, didn’t I say that already???
