Never Summer Evo - 2011

/images/brands/never_summer/logo/never_summer_logo.gif

The Never Summer Evo has received a lot of attention over the past season. Firstly, Olympic pipe slayer Greg Zebrowski took an Evo to the Olympics without even being offered a contract with Never Summer. He was so stoked on the product that he was prepared to ride it for free. Secondly (and probably more significantly!), when Snowboard-Review.com took 13 of 2011’s jib snowboards on a test to determine the best jib board of 2011, the Evo was victorious. If you want to ride everything from the most technical rails to the most towering superpipes the Evo should be on your shortlist.

Manufacturer's Description:

Designed for advanced freestyle riders, the twin tip Evo is the perfect board for shredders who spend most of their time in the pipe and park. Extremely light and easy to butter, the Evo provides high speed stability and durability not usually associated with freestyle snowboards

2011 Never Summer Evo Video Snowboard Review

The NS Evo is one mega fun freestyle stick. It felt good from the off, amazing for buttering & pressing and also held an edge well at pretty high speeds. In the park, the Evo was easy for spinning and jumping around off transitions of all shapes and sizes. One of the big surprises was how able the Evo was through the slush and how controlled it was on hard pack snow. When I took the Evo on the jibs, it felt lush on boxes and rails. Flat land tricks felt effortless and to be honest I found it hard not to keep shredding the Evo for the rest of the day, unfortunately I had tons of other boards to get through. The Evo just feels right in every way; you really need to test it to understand how sick it is. I’m definitely getting one! The EVO is a must try board for any budding freestyler. A treasure of a jib board in my opinion and it definitely put a large smile on my face! The rocker in between the feet and camber on nose & tail sounded a bit weird to me at first but after testing, I must say I’m hugely impressed by how easy the RC technology makes presses and popping tricks! Sure the Evo is expensive for a jib board but then again Aston Martins are expensive for sports cars. The best thing about it is that pretty much anyone can have fun on the Evo and that’s what its all about!

Check out the video below to see the Evo win the 2011 ‘King of Jib’ competition.

Hi, I’m 6’1, about 170-180lbs, boot size 9.5 but the boots have smaller footprint, I believe 8.5. Which one would you recommend 153 or 155? Thank you

Alex on January 14, 2011 at 04:06 PM

Forgot to say. I’m going to ride it only in park

I already posted this on Evil Twin review, but this one looks more active, and my doubt is basically between both boards.. so:

Hey, I’m looking for an all mountain board focused on park, jibbing and not too big kickers. I prefer twin shape for better switch riding. My biggest doubt is between an Evil Twin and a Never Summer EVO. What would you recommend me? I never tried TBT, but it looks pretty much sick!!

ive ridden flat lines? nidekers amptex and k2 low rise. does the rocker between the feet get squirely, i felt the other types of rockers lost a significant amount of control at high speed. is this different?

I’m 5’7 and weigh 140 but I have a size 10.5 foot and I don’t know if I should get an evo or a revolver, would the evo be too stiff for a rider my weight and is the evo too narrow? Also if it helps I wanted to get a board that’s about 151. Or should I just wait for the 2012

Keyan on June 18, 2011 at 08:43 AM

Sorry I meant to ask if the revolver was too stiff for my weight also I have a 22.5 wide stance and I ride 6 and -6

Josh on June 18, 2011 at 09:37 AM

I got the 156 revolver from last season (2011) and im 6’1” and about 200lbs and ride wide and +-13 and the board is unbelievable and took my riding to another level especially with the new flux park biniding with the urethane highback but for your weight definitely go with the evo man

Rich Ewbank on June 18, 2011 at 02:19 PM

The problem is the Evo gets really narrrow at shorter lengths. The 151 is 243mm at the waist which is narrow. You’d be better off on a board like the Lib Tech Attack Banana 153 which has a 251mm waist.

Keyan on June 19, 2011 at 05:41 AM

Do you think the 154 2012 would work if I squeezed into a size 10 it has a 151 waist just like the Lib Tech

Rich Ewbank on June 19, 2011 at 09:12 AM

What’s a typical day on a snowboard for you? Are you riding a lot of jibs or more all-mountain? Mikee our tester has ridden the last 3 years of Evos he said the 2012 is hands-down the best yet…. the shape is a bit ugly though.
