YES Great Women - 2012

/images/brands/yes/logo/yes_logo.gif

Fed up with Great Dudes of History, YES. has flipped the script and gone all Greatest Women on us. Last year we enjoyed portraits of great minds such as Albert Einstein, JFK and Martin Luther King (to name a few) this year we’re indulged with great airheads such as Marilyn Monroe and Bridget Bardot. The boards haven’t changed much since last year, they are still asymmetrical twin shaped, use a Camrock profile and have one of the firmest flexes in the range, but this year they acquire a new nameless technology, like Prince only known by a symbol. This nameless technology is designed to increase grip. On that note I wish YES. And Nidecker would sort out their catalogues.

What colour is powder?

Hey all,

Think the 158 with a 25.1 waist width would be wide enough for my size 11 Forum boots with bindings set at 15 degrees each?

I got Briggite! She is amazing!!! Nice turns, stiff enough to give confidence in higher speeds yet mellow to play freely in lower speeds. Holds an edge really well. My last boards were quite different - burton custom X and ride concept ul - I would say Briggite is more fun than both!

hey i weight 160 and about 5’9” would the 153cm board be to small for me?

Rich Ewbank on December 29, 2011 at 02:34 PM

@Tom - you’d be better suited to the 155 or 158 imo.

Hello I’m 5’7 68 kg I’d like to buy the Great beauties to use it as AM-FS board in Chamonix area,  riding AM, pistes and pow, trying some jumps and spins , some very basic butter, ollies, absolutely no box & rails. In park only to improve my jumping. (I only jump straight want to spin some 180). I also own an Abor A frame 158 for carving, speed and pow, and a cambered K2 believer 155 that the yes is bound to substitue.  I’ decided to buy the yes because of the hybrid rocker when, riding a Rome Anthem SS159 (hybrid camber), I found that was more inclined to turn that my (way smaller) Believer 154. Beside I love the amazing stability that the Believer has at speed f and straight lining and the way it carves and pop. Basically I’m looking something very similar to that but a little easier to spin and good also in pow. Should I buy the 155 or go down to 153?

I also have Brigitte as my Great Beauties board and have it set up with Burton Cartels, and I can’t say enough good things about it! My previous board was an all-round freestyle deck with a directional shape and flex, which makes Brigitte a lot different. It took me a few outings to get used to the pop, but the edge-hold with the serated edge is outstanding (even on icy east coast runs!!) and asymitrical sidecut makes a big difference. Riding switch is fantastic with this deck also. It is very playful but also holds its own going mach speed and floats relatively well in pow (we only get small amounts so I wouldn’t be able to tell ya how it is in knee deep). The camrock technology makes it seem like you can get away with a smaller deck to ride deeper snow since the nose is already raised a little. The only thing I noticed was that it’s not etirely all that great on rails, as the serated edge really digs into rails…but if you stick to boxes it’s just fine. All in all, highly recommended!!
