Set back with a slightly directional shape, using multi-axial fibreglass and running on an 8000 grade sintered base, it’s hardly surprising that the YES Big City is more suited to riders who consider the whole mountain their playground, not just the terrain park. The Big City or BC for short is a medium to firm flexing snowboard ideal for riders who take their tricks to natural terrain.

Apparently this is the board Romain Demarchi stomps his ridiculously balls-out tricks on – No wonder I found it a bit too serious and stiff for my liking! The YES Big City replaces the YES Optimistic but is slightly softer and not quite as dedicated to freeriding. If you like your ride soft and buttery then don’t even think about the Big City! This board is designed for the big mountain freestyle connoisseurs so if rails and boxes are your thing then look elsewhere.
What’s really impressive about the Big City is that when you really give-it-some and load up the tail you get a pretty impressive amount of pop, which means big ass ollies! The base is also lightening quick so if gunning it around at Mach 10 and going big is what you’re all about then the YES Big City is a winner. Although I wasn’t a fan of the BC on the jibs it felt really stable going off the pro-line jumps and airing off rollers, although it’s less freeride focused than the Optimistic was it would still make a great board for fresh tracks on steep backcountry terrain. Finally, as well as being a poor jib board I should highlight that the Big City is not suited to beginners what so ever.
Highlights:
Super quick multi 8000 sintered base
Lots of pop
Hard charging stability
Let-downs:
Too stiff for rail and jib riding
