I’m looking for a board/binding for my first setup. I ride swicth a lot so i think something, less directional in a twin would be best. I guess I would be an intermidiate rider. I’m 5’4, 140 lbs female, size 8 feet.
Rentals are a crap 5150 board and I was riding a 151cm, they were very hard to control and killed my ankles. Should I stay at 151 or go a bit shorter?
I ride all mountain, no park really, just like to take what comes my way, carve and go fast. Conditions suck here, icy, hard, so something suited to that. But I do like to make the 10 hour trip to the powder a couple times a year.
Boots I’m just going to try out at the shop see what feels right somehting a bit stiffer. I have weak ankles so I was wondering if I certain bindings would help with that, along with a stiffer boots.
400$ range I think on the board
Also links would be awesome, I’m trying to order online something that ships to canada for free or cheap!!
Thanks!!

Hey sugar,
the Rossi Diva should fit your bill!
Medium to stiff flex for charging and carving, Magtek for additional edgehold on icy conditions and it’s speced up with Rossis infamous AmpTek rocker. Really a great ride!
Can’t help with any shop link as I’m from Europe, sorry.
I don’t think there’s the possibility that specific bindings can help you with your weak ankles. Then again, some serious boots should do the job and one way or another, you should definitely work on strengthening your ankles!
Let me know what you think, Cheers Tobi

Thanks for the reply!! Weak ankles are due to tearing ligaments as a child and repeatedly twisting ankles as a result. I wear braces on each foot when I run or exercise. Streghtening exercises haven’t help much, more of a support thing

I know what you are talking about, I had 4 torn ligaments as well, by now.
I don’t know how your situation is exactly, but you shouldn’t always wear braces because with such support, the muscles around your ankles will hardly become stronger because there is hardly any movement in the ankle. You should try and do some excersises with sand under your feet or check out some balance pad which does the same. Your ankle situation will definitely improve as long as it is not an osseous matter.
Don’t give up on your ankles! :)

Yeah a stiffer boot and a supportive binding are going to be the key to supporting you dodgy ankles. However, it’s not just the stiffness of the boot it’s the fit. If you ride a firm boot but you are getting any kind of heel lift then the strain of toes side traverses will immediately go on your calves, ankles and achilies. Try lots of different boot makes on. I have quite narrow ankles and I find that the kushy vans liners work best for me. Regarding boards, I recon something with a bit of reverse camber and magnetraction edges will help. When you are traversing on solid conditions it’s definitely not as strenuous on your ankles when you have may edges. So the Rossi Diva, the GNU BNice Pro and Roxy Ollie Pop are going to be ideal boards.
