Rossignol Diva Magtek - 2011

/images/brands/rossignol/logo/rossignol_logo.gif

With a lot of brands, the women’s board line-up misses out on the tech that the boys’ boards get. Not at Rossi. The Rossignol Diva MagTek has all the ingredients to make an epic board for strong female all mountain freestylers. Magnetraction edges for grip in icy pipes; Freestyle Amptek for catch-free run ins and forgiving landings; Carbon and Kevlar reinforcement for chatter free charging and enough torsional stiffness to make sure you don’t wash out however hard you carve; and a high grade 4.4k sintered base to give you enough speed to reach the landing on any kicker. The new Diva paint-job pairs up nicely with the Diva bindings.

Manufacturer's Description:

Exhilarating, like running naked through a bee swarm.

A mind-boggling mix of carbon, Kevlar®, biaxial fibers, all terrain flex, Magne Traction edges, early rise tips and flickering, dream-struck art. The slay-it-all performance of the Diva has been often imitated but never equaled. And with the new addition of AmpTek Freestyle, it’s taking all mountain freestyle snowboarding to another galaxy.

Snowboard Review:

Nope I haven’t been riding girls boards again.. this review is courtesy of Tom’s friend Hana Rabuzin. Big thanks Hana!

The Rossignol Diva MagTek (Magne-Traction and Amptek) is a Mary Poppins bag of technology which gets to work with incredible results. This high end all mountain freestyle board comes with a lot of hype and all the performance to silence the harshest of critics. The Diva is made for the aggressive girl rider looking for performance and response from park to pow.

Amptek means camber between your feet, then rocker from there on out, making the Diva the perfect all mountain party board. Amptek shines through in the park, with stable air time and soft, forgiving landings for those painful learning streaks. This board is super fast and so light you’ll find yourself flying to new levels off the kickers, and maybe sneaking in that extra 180 with the Diva’s low swing weight. Then switch it up on this directional twin for some easy, jaw-dropping moves. The Magne-Traction keeps out of your way on the box and the rocker keeps you sweet to clear badly dug in rails, then pull off some impressive nose and tail presses – too easy! Butters are smooth and flow like a dream, while the carbon, Kevlar and biaxial fibre core makes for astounding pop and effortless ollies, leaving you with enough energy for après ski tabletop dancing.

The Diva is so versatile you can float through powder like you’ve been dieting for a decade, then hold on through hard-packed race course ice like a mammoth on a knife-edge, all in the same run. The Magne-Traction really gets to work when the terrain gets evil and the edge digs in like an afterburner on steroids, to keep you up and in control and oblivious to mother gravity’s wrath. The camber between your feet means all out aggressive, fast and hard carving, and not to mention smooth – compared to many other women’s specific boards, the Diva absorbs bumps like Pacman. This board doesn’t give up on you, no matter how hard you push it.

Fast response edge to edge transfer completes an effortless day of dynamic, fun and hard out riding on the Diva, without the need for a day off to recover. This board gives you the confidence you need to take your riding to a new level, and has all the performance and technology to keep you progressing. Riding has never been so fun and versatile. Rossignol has set the bar.
Girls – don’t let your boyfriend get his hands on this Diva.

What colour is powder?

Did anyone tried any of the boards with Amp Tech? What are your comments? Is it worth getting a new park board?

Snow Witch Elemental on September 02, 2010 at 11:44 PM

“Girls – don’t let your boyfriend get his hands on this Diva.” Well, the 147 Retox has almost identical specs as the 148 Diva. I wonder what difference there is between these two?

Snow Witch Elemental on September 06, 2010 at 08:32 PM

Retox actually doesn’t have Magne traction.

But Rossignol One Mag has both the Mag and the Amptek. The only dif between the One and Diva of similar length (153 cm and 152 cm) is that the One will be very slightly stiffer. So much for “Girls – don’t let your boyfriend get his hands on this Diva.”

Rossi One Mag 2011 •Shape: Directional Twin w/AmpTek All Mountain •Core: Wood C/K •Base: Sintered 4400 •Range: Intermediate to Expert •Length (cm): 153 •Effective Edge (cm): 106 •Tip/Tail Width (cm): 29.2 •Waist Width (cm): 25 •Sidecut (m): 7.5

Key Features of the Rossignol Diva Magtek Snowboard:

•Shape: Directional Twin w/AmpTek Freestyle •Core: Twinwood 3 C/K •Base: Sintered 4400 •Range: Advanced to Expert •Length (cm): 152 •Effective Edge (cm): 106 •Tip/Tail Width (cm): 28.8 •Waist Width (cm): 24.4 •Sidecut (m): 7.1

And the narrower waist, tighter sidecut and the fact that the Diva uses Freestyle Amptek which means that the Rockered nose and tail is much closer to the tip and tail of the board. That means the camber is greater, 5mm instead of 1mm on boards with all mountain Amptek.

Snow Witch Elemental on September 06, 2010 at 10:12 PM

So, do you agree with me that the One is almost the same as Diva only a weeeeeee bit stiffer?

Snow Witch Elemental on September 06, 2010 at 10:14 PM

Where did you get the info (5mm versus 1 mm)? I was looking, but didn’t find it.

Rich Ewbank on September 06, 2010 at 10:32 PM

Found it in the dealer catalogue, but the new rossi site is up so you can check it out on there too.

Thank you. You are always very helpful.

Hmm, Google did not match any documents to this address.

Tom Ewbank on September 06, 2010 at 10:38 PM

I thought you were asking for the difference between the Retox and the Diva?

Freestyle Amptek feels a little different to normal Amptek…..it’s a little softer inbetween the feet and torsionally, as a result it’s easier to press and butter. So, in conclusion; if you’re looking for the girls version (slightly softer laterally and longitudinally) of a One Mag this is definitely the closest thing to it.
