Xavier De Le Rue is on form for Verbier

Xavier de Le Rue is a guy you’ve got to admire, even after his disappointing fall in the Olympic Snowboardcross heats (I’d championed Xavier for the gold), Xavier has got back on the horse and is once again dominating the Freeride World Tour. If you missed Xavier’s line on the Tram Face in Squaw get on the Freeride World Tour website and check out the video… 360 drop in, a tight multiple drop cliff line followed by an enormous cliff that most people would want a parachute for. Insane! Now Xavier is g-ing up for the final event in Verbier, where fingers crossed, he will be taking his 3rd title. This is what Xavier had to say about the impending event:

“For this 15th edition of the Nissan Xtreme de Verbier presented by Swatch, snow conditions are close to perfect. I rarely saw the Bec des Rosses with that much snow and if weather gods are with us until the comp there will be a good show.
Before this last comp of the year I’m in the lead of the freeride world tour and need a 5th place or better to get my third world champ title, but I’m not planning to take it easy. I want to ride full on and show my best level in that face which we respect and love challenging so much. Last year couple lines from Freeride World Tour ended up in my part of Black winter from Standard Films. I would like to show what we do in competition can again land in a big US video production and can complete what I’ve already been filming in the alps early this month and what I’ll nail in AK early April.”

Now my friends don’t call me Detective Ricardo for nothing… actually they don’t call me that, but my Spidee senses must be working pretty well at the moment. If you look at the picture sent to us with the press release (see below), it appears that Mr De Le Rue is sporting a rather nice and perhaps slightly prototype Rossignol split board under his arm. I’ve seen next years Rossignol line up and there’s no Split board? A mystery indeed, but we’ll be trying to our best to get to the bottom of it!

Xavier de Le Rue is supported by Rossignol, The North Face, Swatch, SNCF, Nissan, Relentless, St Lary, ABS, Dakine and Deeluxe

Now what's that under your arm Mr De Le Rue?

Haha, yeah he’s got a screw loose!Especially when you look close and see that he hit a rock in the landing! It’s a shame that the Verbier Extreme has been postponed a couple of days, but no doubt we’re going to see some crazy footage from that event.
