Union Build Bonkers Banana Binding

If there’s one binding manufacturer that’s been hot on the heels of Burton since it’s conception it’s Union. Now with 5 years under their belts they’re taking binding design to the next level. With Magnesium injected construction and partnerships with some of the most high tech materials manufacturers on the planet like Dupont and Zytel, you know the guys at Union are producing some serious gear. There are tons of standouts in the 09/10 range, like the Force-MC binding with it’s carbon highback, injected Magnesium heelcup and machine cored base plate, we’re talking about an incredibly light binding or the Re-Union binding with it’s recycled off-cut materials. However, in my opinion the most ground breaking binding of the 09/10 season is the Union Contact.

New Union Contact Binding 2010

Minimising the board to binding contact point the Contact binding allows Reverse Camber boards to flex truer by eradicating the dead spots you usual find under your bindings. The Baseplate has been designed to provide supreme strength with the smallest of footprints so you don’t have to worry about damaging them. What are the benefits of a truer flex? Union claim getting rid of the dead spots improves response and board control. One things for sure it’ll reduce the risk of snapping your board at the binding. The rest of the binding’s spec is standard Union goodness, with Magnesium buckles, anodized Aluminium Heelcups and the cushy honeycomb EVA straps… beautiful! Rumour has it that Danny Kass’s signature binding is going to be based on the Contact binding for 2009/10 instead of the Data base plate it used last season.

Minimal contact... minimal dead spots... right!
