Prior break with tradition and release new AMF snowboard

If you’re not familiar with Prior Snowboards…you should be. Prior are based in Whistler, Canada, and have been creating the finest handmade and custom snowboards for the last 20 years. Renowned for their freeride swallow tails, heavily tapered rides and their split boards, the words ‘freestyle’ and ‘rocker’ are two words you’d never expect to see on a Prior press release. So it was to our great surprise that a press release for Prior’s latest model the AMF arrived in our inbox…

Introducing the all new Prior AMF

The AMF Rocker has a twin shape for switch riding, yet is slightly directional with a 1.3cm setback on the inserts so that riders can bump their bindings back on pow days if they choose.

A relatively deep sidecut provides added agility in the trees, chutes and riding the halfpipe. And the key element to this board’s versatility, the rockered tip and tail combined with subtle camber under the waist of the board, is what Prior likes to call the hybrid rocker.

Our hybrid rocker allows the board to turn on a dime and transition effortlessly from edge to edge. Incredibly, effective edge length is the same as regular cambered boards allowing the rider to carve on icy and hard pack conditions without washing out. Having rocker at the tip and tail provides powder float when riding regular or switch, while also giving the rider the ability to do smooth and easy presses and butters. The rockered zone has been kept relatively stiff for stability on big take offs and landings and to provide strength and pop for presses and ollies.

The AMF Rocker is handcrafted with the same premium quality materials and high standards as all Prior models with a full aspen/maple wood core, triaxial/carbon glass, UHMW sidewalls, full wrap Rockwell 48 edges, and ultra fast and durable sintered graphite base.

Available in 153, 156, 159, 162, 165, also available as a split board
