FBBB snowboard art tour hits the UK

At the UK snowboard test in Kaunertal Snowboard Review bumped into Mikee from For Boarders By Boarders (FBBB, to those in the know). We were well aware of the freestyle indoor series that the FBBB crew are running this Summer, at indoor slopes around the UK, but we certainly didn’t know about the snowboard art exhibition running along-side the series. We were completely blown away by the designs from last years event.

Tour dates and venues for the FBBB series 2009

As part of the 2009 FBBB Summer Series twenty of the UK’s best urban and street artists have been selected to adorn a series of skate decks and snowboards with graphics of their own invention.

No brief has been given. The artists have been encouraged to let their imaginations run riot and deliver designs which are true expressions of where they are, creatively, at present. So far artists confirmed include the creme de la creme of the UK urban art scene:

Blam / Clumsy Kate / Andy Council / DBO / Dirty Thirty / Famous When Dead / Faunagraphic / Ill Joseph / Sri McKinnon / Andy Mould / Kev Munday / Newso / Nik Ill / Rocket01 / Skuer / Ben Slow / Three Dee Glasses / Two Pence / Ventzah

All the boards’ artwork will be completed by May 22nd, in time for the first instalment of the For Borders By Borders 2009 Summer Series; a string of eight events around indoor parks, culminating in a grand finale on October 10th

The artists’ boards will be displayed at each venue along the way, as well as being exhibited at the 2009 Metro Ski and Snowboard Show and at a gallery show at the Reebok Lounge, London; to a combined total of well over 50,000 people. In addition, during and after the Summer Series, FBBB and its collective of artists will liaise with local councils across the UK to implement a strategy to revamp the appearance of skate parks up and down the country.
