FBBB Board Art Showcase

Mountains might be in short supply in England, but art is one thing that our little Island can do. Snowboard Review received an invite to the FBBB Board Art Showcase at the Reebok Lounge in Shoreditch London, to check out some of the pieces they’d commissioned to help raise money for their charity Snow-Camp which takes disadvantaged kids out to the mountains. We’d never turn down an invite to drink free beer so we donned our spray-on jeans and cycled our fixed gear bikes down to Shoreditch’s trendiest venue.

It’s fair to say that FBBB (For Boarders by Boarders) have been at the forefront of the British Snowboard scene for the last couple of years; their highly original blend of the UK’s Snowboarding, Skate, Music and Art cultures have bought something fresh to the UK scene. It’s no secret that the UK imports the majority of its Snowboarding brands from the States and Europe so it’s consequently very difficult for UK artists to contribute to the industry/sub-culture that they love. FBBB has given the aforementioned UK and European artists an outlet and allowed them to get their work recognised on a world stage. Recent showcases have included the London Ski & Snowboard Show and the London Freeze, in which they sat in the rain for the majority of the time.

Thursday night saw yet another showcase of UK talent at the Reebok Lounge in Shoreditch, London. The ever-diligent Mikee and Sarah, who have both recently loosened work commitments to spend more time on organising FBBB events, put on one hell of a party. Artists like Ugly Kids Club and Two-Pence exhibited their work while 200 invited party-goers and industry peeps made the most of the free Tiger beer and live music. It was great to see up-close the breadth of talent that the UK is producing and the freshness that their work brings to snowboard and skateboard design. Once the beer had run-out and the prize-draw had been made the guests retired to the Hoxton Pony on Curtain Road to throw some serious shapes to the sounds of the FBBB DJ’s. You’ll be pleased to know that the Snowboard-Review crew represented all night and were the last of the party-goers to be dropping dance-moves on the floor…….some of Rich’s moves were plain wrong!

A massive shout-out must go to Mikee C who organised a great party despite being burgled the night of the party and of course the artists who helped create one hell of a show. Have a look at some of the pictures below to see what all the fuss was about.
