Apo drop the Amanite for the 2010/11 season

It’s a sad, sad day for European Snowboarding culture. After 20 years and a total of 17 pro models, David Vincent and Regis Rolland have decided to put an end to David’s pro-line the Amanite.

David's world famous shrooms adorn the Amanite

David Vincent’s crazy Mushroom boards have been a part of Apocalypse / A Snowboards for as long as I can remember. Apparently David’s pro model began life in 1990, so it goes without saying that they’re a serious part of European Snowboard culture .After an illustrious career in the sport with standout parts in movies like Christian Stevenson’s Odd Man Out and Day Tripper (Two of my favourite movies of all time), we’ve had word from APO that David and Regis will be dropping the Amanite for the 2010/11 season. For those of you not fortunate enough to remember David in his prime riding days, David’s immense style and frankly bonkers personality really set him apart from his peers. David and Axel Pauporte really pushed French riding and the Les Arcs scene in particular and for the mid-nineties David was the European Snowboard Scene’s poster boy. What this means is that the 2009/10 season will be your last opportunity to pick up a classic piece of snowboarding history and the only board on the planet with insane cartoon mushroom graphics. Don’t worry, APO will be releasing a board to replace the Amanite, it just won’t have a helping of David’s magic mushroom madness woven into it.

Shrooms, shrooms, shrooooooms!!! The Amanite's burlier brother the Amanite LTD

Hi Justin,

Apo boards are pretty hard to get hold of in the US. They’re a notoriusly french brand, but you’re right, they rule and brand owner Regis Rolland is one of the biggest legends in snowboarding!

I’ve found the Amanite at Christy Sports with 40% discount.

Hope that’s useful.
