Amplid HiDef - 2010
Summary:
Lock up our engineers and finnish shredder Matti Kinnunen into a lab for one year. Let them discuss about the tricks of 2020 as well as technology of 2050. Let them fight about every gramm of swing weight, about the paradox relation of necessity and luxury. Space age technology and a rocket speed base in an advanced package to take the advanced rider above and beyond.
Manufacturer's Description:
Here is the outcome: The HiDef, wunderkind of HEXO2 technology. Take a Helio P15 wood core, cut out swing weight where necessary and fill it back up with a honey comb structure which is made out of recycled paper and add high spec pre-preg laminates. The result is the lightest shred our factory has ever made, with the swing-weight being reduced to the max.
Probably the lightest, fastest, most responsive and yet smoothest snowboard you ever buckled onto (according to Amplid, although it is insanely light!). Everything you expect from a shred, but nothing you are used to.

Review of Amplid HiDef:
The first question you have to ask yourself before you consider the Amplid Hi-Def is ‘are you good enough to ride it?’ The Hi-Def is unbelievably responsive, the slightest movement of bodyweight will change your direction. Unfortunately, less experienced riders will suffer from the Hi-Def’s unforgiving nature. Take your concentration off the board and your riding for a split second and you’ll be flat on your face (just ask the Volcom Rep on the test), the Amplid Hi-Def is extremely unforgiving and will chew and spit out all but advanced riders. For those riders who are good enough to ride the Hi-Def the benefits are incredible. Unfailing edge grip in carves and through transitions, especially in the pipe. Effortless spinning due to the Nomex honeycomb inserts at the tip and tail and explosive pop off jumps. Not a relaxing ride but truly rewarding, best suited to extremely experienced snowboarders who ride the pro line kickers in the park, big backcountry booters and monster superpipes.
