Lib Tech Travis Rice C2 BTX - 2011

/images/brands/libtech/logo/libtech_logo.gif

When Travis releases his new snowboard movie in September you’ll see exactly what this board is capable of, it’s an all-mountain killer that can literally be taken anywhere. When compared to the 2010 model the 2011 Travis Rice doesn’t appear to have had any changes made to it but must have been refined as it’s now the proud winner of a 2011 TransWorld Good Wood Award, not to mention some sick graphics inspired by the film ‘The Ring’.

Manufacturer's Description:

What colour is powder?

@ Banj. Yeah the 157 Lib Tech TRice would make a great all-mountain snowboard for a man of your stats. If you wanted to size down to the 153 for park, I’m told by our head of testing Tom that the TRice is good for it, but for All mountain the 157 would be ideal. Rich

Looking to upgrade the board this year, but need your expert advice. I ride all mountain and hit the occasional kicker if I’m feelin over confident that day. I’m 6 foot about 210 lbs. Is the 161 gonna be my best bet? Is it pretty stable at high speeds?  Thanks!!

Rich Ewbank on October 05, 2011 at 12:27 PM

Yeah Austin I should think the 161 will be fine for general all-mountain riding, although it is pointy so you won’t be getting as much effective edge as a more blunted model. Depending on your foot size you might be better looking at the Phoenix Series 160 or Banana Magic 161…. but you’ll be fine if you go for the TRice. Yep for sure it’s a very stable snowboard at high speeds.

@ rich: I wear a size 11. Do you think that’ll be ok, or do I want to aim for more of a blunted model like you said. Again thanks for the feedback!

Rich Ewbank on October 05, 2011 at 12:54 PM

After all that, I reckon the TRice is going to be spot-on. The 26cm at the waist will give you a bit more space for your size 11s too. Mag edges should give you all the grip you need.

Hey Rich,

Thanks for the heads up. I went with the Ride Machete for all mountain. However, looking at Lib Tech for a 2nd board primarily used for park and jumps. What would you recommend? Skate Banana? Also I have Rome 360 Boss Bindings and Burton Hail boots - I gather this set up would be OK?

Hi boys! I’m going 157 all mountain and park, but how it will behave in deep snow? Even I did not use it, set the bindings back a bit (0,75-1”)? Or do not have to? I am 6.1 “and 185lbs…..

Joe on August 27, 2012 at 02:00 PM

I am 5’8” and 180, size 9.5 boot. I just bought the T.rice Pro HP in size 153 because the rep at lib tech reccomended sizing down. I am thinking about returning it for the 157. I rode a burton custom 156 before. I mostly freeride, with very very little use in the park. Do you guys have any reccomendations if i should stick with the 153 or exchange it for the 157?
