I need some help deciding which board is best for me:
I have been snowboarding for about 15 years and am very happy w/ my Arbor A Frame 166 which I got 4 years ago. That board is a beast when it comes to going very fast and carving which is what I like. I don’t go in the park, I am more of a freerider who likes to carve through trees and hit some jumps. The A Frame sold me on Arbor snowboards so I think I have it narrowed down to either the Arbor Coda or the Wasteland, but I’ve seen so many conflicting reviews that I’m not sure which would be the best for me. Don’t get me wrong, I still love my A Frame, but it has it’s purpose. I am 6’ about a 190….I used to be 200-220 (hence the 166). The only problem is I feel it is a little large for me now and I want something a little smaller and playful.
FYI I live in the northeast so I only get good powder a couple times a year when I go out west. I want something that will hold an edge in the typical northeast icy packed snow conditions but be more flexible, lighter, etc.
Coda or Wasteland…..or any other suggestion?
Also, what length would you recommend for someone 6’ 190?
Thanks for your help in advance!

That’s actually a good question you are stating here my friend.. apart from slight differences the only thing I can tell is that the core on the Wasteland is probably a bit more refined, maybe lighter(, more expensive).
What I guess is that the Wasteland’s flex is slightly firmer and the Coda is a bit more of a do-it-all ride.
Hard to tell actually, can’t give you any more detailed answer, sorry.
For the length, go check the Arbor website, for every board they listed their recommendations. That should answer your question!

I spoke w/ the guy at my local shop. He recommended the coda. There are only 2 main technical differences the core and tips. The wasteland has a lighter core and Kevlar reinforced. Since I don’t ride in the park this doesn’t help me. Plus the guy at my shop told me the coda would be more playful and geared towards my riding style….he also recommended a 159.
Quite a difference from my 166 A Frame…I’m so excited to get it on the slope w/ my new cartel bindings :-)
Thanks for the reply! This is a great forum…keep up the good work!
Thanks again!
