I am looking at a 163cm all moubntain board, I’m an advanced skiier and am looking for mainly groomers/powder/some jumps.

I am 5’11’‘
190 lbs

I want a more relaxed freeride board to just cruise around on mainly but directional twin tip just in case I want to amuse my friends and go and fall over in the park.

Found a board I want (Albi) but want to make sure its not too long!

Thanks in advance.

Yeah the 163 sounds like a good length if you want to focus your riding around beating your skier friends down the mountain and embarassing them by making powder riding look effortless! Of course a 163 is never going to feel agile on jibs and the Alibi isn’t ideal for them anyway, but for halfpipe and jumps it’ll be fine.

Just what I’m gonna be doing hopefully… I am looking at the same board in either a 159 wide or a 163 regular. I have size 11 thirty two JP Walker prospect boot. Do you think a the wide might be better or the longer board?  Almost there!!

A bit of info to expand on the above post. 159 wide is 260 mm wide at the waist and the 163 cm is 253mm wide at the waist. Strangley the regular board says it camber and the wide is rocker is that right it’s an atomic albi 2010. I’d prefer a camber board. I have size 11 boots.

Thanks for the info so far.

You’ll probably be fine on a board with a 25.3 cm waist is that’s a 11US if your foots ize is an 11UK then you’d be better off on the Wide as 26cm is more mid-wide. Regarding camber, the 2009/10 Alibi was cambered and from the 2010/11 season on it is reverse camber… at least early rise tips on pressure loaded camber. I prefered the camber version if I’m honest. They have one here for cheap (uk shop) - Alibi for £230

Thanks for that, yes that is the board I was looking at they actually have two and there is a 163 regular somewhere else. I have been doing a bit of reading up and I think I would be on the edge (I am a UK 11), however I am going to be mainly on the piste and powder rather than parks apart from jumps so I think a wide would be perfect for me considering the type of riding I want to do.

Thanks for the info - the wide should be a touch over 26cm at the inserts, i.e. between the middle and tips of the board and I should still get some overhang to make sure I can use those edges effectively, nearly there, on to the bindings next!

Already got the boots.

Roll on Avimore in Feb and Alp Duex in March.

Thanks Rich you have been really helpful, if only I could have a job doing what you do, I’d love it.
