Hello!
I am considering buy a new board and need some help.
I have been riding during 12 years, 10-15 days per year, so i consider myself on the intermediate level. I like hard carving on piste and going offpiste when the powder falls, i’m not interested on park, maybe take one jump or two while carving from top to bottom. I would like to progress on flat tricks and depurate the carving tecnique.
I am interested on hibrid shape, specially C2BTX because i think it is the shape that aim my riding style, hard carving (not as good as a camber shape but still good), good on powder but still playful to do some flat stuff, catch free to improve confidence… Holding edge is a very important feature for me because i live in Spain and here ice and hardpack is very common.
I read a lot of reviews and here is my choice list:
Lib tech Skunk ape 165 C2BTX (powerC2)—> ¿is it playful enough?
GNU Riders Choice 166W C2BTX—> ¿C2, without power, still good for hard carve?
Lib tech travis Rice 164.5 C2BTX (power C2)—> ¿playful for flats, wide enough?
I am 196cm tall, 105 kg weight, 13 feet.
Many thanks!
Regards.
PD: One last questions, i read that lib-tech/GNU have durability issues, how do you think about that?

Sure thing… sorry for the delay. Super busy getting all of next year’s gear on the site so I can get it live within the next two weeks. As ever it is a complete mission!
Regarding the boards you’ve listed. Agreed C2 BTX is a good option, it carves nicely and introduces a bit of playfullness and improves float. On that tip you might also consider the Never Summer Legacy which would suit you down to the ground. I think you need to be considering a wide board with your 13s. I’m afraid I’ve only ridden the T.Rice, but that board is very special, carves hard and kills transitions too… and at 26.2cm at the waist you’d probably be alright. Another board to be consider would be the Nitro Blacklight Gullwing which gets released next season.
As far as durability goes on Mervin boards, the only issue is that the edges don’t go around way the tips which means if you ding it on a rock or tree root expect a delam.

Thanks for answer!
I checked Never Summer too but the problem with this brand is that is very dificult to find those boards in Spain. One question about NS, they have similar magnetraction tech on his boards? it’s a must for me that the board can holding perfectly edge on hardpack/ice because, as i told on the first entry, in Spain the hard conditions are very common.
My current board is a Atomic Alibi (2008) 165W, i feel the board stiff to be playful on flats but is fast, carves well (except when conditions becomes hard), has a really good pop but lacks on powder, is very dificutl for me makes it float (maybe my stats are related with this issue).
Just a one question, which involves, in terms of carving techique, changing from camber to hybrid rocker?
Many thanks!!
Regards.
PD: It is dificult to find a site where reviews of boards are so good, so congrats!
