I rode the Head Evil Flamba Kers at the test last week. It was a great board but the Kers can definitely make the ride a little unforgiving at times… I’d say it’s more suited to an advanced rider. If you’ve got your heart set on it, I’d hold tight until the Evil Flamba becomes available the Flamba shape is ridiculously responsive.

Extremely, very, unbelievably… As in you hint at an edge and the board rips into a carve. This board just wants to carve. Great if you need to switch between edges quickly in tight terrain.

Perfect!!! It was the answer I would have Heared!!!
Was sending you a private message but it’s quite enought your info!
Always ridden camber boards but carbon kevlar and kers tecnology convinced me to get the evil Kers with the hope it will be a very poppy and responsive board with a fast edge to edge carving!

What about jibbing? Thanks for your reviews!

I mean I was looking for a I Team board but as this model won’t be anymore produced I chose the Evil. the I forse seems to be very oriented for pipe riding and quite stiff for an all around riding a kind of B. “X”?

I rode rails on it but the flex is really a little too firm for it to be suited to jibs and rails. I’d say the Team Evil Flamba is probably more suited to a 20ft+ kicker and halfpipe rider who also wants to ride powder when it’s around, hit backcountry jumps and still have good edge control and response on resort runs. Also I don’t think the Nano sintered base will like being slid along rails or ledges too much.

I have succumbed to temptation and have been looking for an all mountain with a freestyle bias to add to my Forum Youngblood Chillirocker. I have demoed a few boards at the local dome. Artec Gabe taylor was pleasantly snappy and easy to change edge.  Within 2-3 turns Bataleon Evil Twin made me feel I could catch no edge and I should go even faster. It seemed easy enough to carve but felt rather vague when flatbasing it and on approaching park features. Still, I love the graphics. I couldn’t get to grip with the Salomon Grip - couldn’t get it to carve. I think the demo model was too big for me.

I finally tried the 2nd hand Salomon Answer 156 I rashly bought over ebay months ago soon after I started riding. I did manage to get it to carve but it wasn’t lively and maybe it was too big? I used over an hour but it was a relief to go back to my usual board.

I went to the shop expecting to buy the Evil twin. My heart was already set on it. I left it a bit late for demoing (got carried away nailing a jib trick). Remembering this thread and given the enthusiastic description in the TSA catalogue, I asked to try the Head The Evil Kers Flamba (what a mouthful). I just had 15-20 mins but the responsiveness was a revelation. I was carving with ease nice tight turns. Very briefly tried on the box. I suppose this board will be less forgiving than my park board. I then went on the Evil Twin but I only got one run. This time, I didn’t like the ET. Not sure why? Do I need more time to readjust to the TBT before liking it again but I didn’t feel I had much edge control compared to the Head!

I’ve flipped from a forgiving board to a superresponsive board?!

With my heart still longing for the Evil Twin, my head chose The Evil Kers etc. I feel no attachment to the graphics at all but I hope its ride will make me love it!

Re-reading the thread now, I just noticed the “I’d say it’s more suited to an advanced rider” and ” I rode rails on it but the flex is really a little too firm for it to be suited to jibs and rails. ” comments. I hope I’ll be alright. I am a low intermediate at best and wouldn’t mind doing some jibbing on the mountain. I suppose there will be still some POW left when I go to Les Arcs in 11 days!

Just came back from a great week in Les Arcs where I tried my new Head The Evil Kers. We were blessed with snow on 4/6 days and almost 1m over the week! There wasn’t the usual slush/ice/hardpack that I was familliar on my previous (ski) trips. Instead, it was mostly soft snow or powder on or off-piste.

I took a day or so to get acquainted with the new terrain, poor visibility and the new board. I had no problem handling the board. It felt comfortable flatbasing on narrow cat tracks, carving on the piste and soaking the moguls. I had my first taste of powder and any falls were due to my inexperience. The park was mostly closed due to the heavy snowfalls. Buttering was more difficult as expected than my other board but I was getting there. I only got my Forum Youngblood Chillidog one morning. It felt a bit more easier and livelier in powder than the Head despite being 3 cm shorter!

Overall, I’m pleased with the new board but really I didn’t get to really compare it with the other boards I was considering (eg Bataleon Evil Twin) on the mountain where it counts!

My Head The Evil KERS has has its second trip, this time to a small resort: Borovets for just 3 days. These were three intense and fun days, the first time I’ve ridden with mates with the similar level and interests as me.

There were many long flat cattracks but the board was great: I felt very stable and comfortable with no hint of edge catching - I was often overtaking the others. It carves a treat on the piste when I apply myself to the right technique! Night boarding was a revelation. The slopes had frozen into ice sheets. I was still able to hold nice traverses when most were sideslipping. I had no worries about bombing down. My only concern was out of control skiers! Once again I missed out on the park as we mainly went for off-piste amongst the trees. We had an unintentional backcountry adventure when we got a bit lost in a valley beyond the pisted areas. I think it’s fine in powder, the limiting factor here is my experience and fear of hitting trees. My mates have noticed the chatter of the nose and tail, I haven’t really noticed that before and certainly it didn’t make me feel less stable.

I have just caught up with the video review
http://www.snowboard-review.com/tv/video_snowboard_review/2012_head_evil_flamba_video_review/
“a board most suited towards the expert rider”

I’m a low intermediate rider with than less than a year experience but I’m pleased and relieved that that I haven’t bitten more than I can chew with the Head The Evil KERS.
