Hi,

I am an advanced beginner. I started out in 2009, but i’ve had aruond 60 days each in the two previous seasons. So far i rode a nitro fuser 159w and last year i got a TRS 162 c2btx.

Last year i was in doubt over the banana and the TRS and i went for TRS as it seemed to be better for my style of riding.

But i find it too stiff to try out all the buttery stuff other people do. I wanted to get something more butter friendly, on sale, and at a good price. But i started finding good deals on the banana too, so now i consider getting it instead of, say nitro rook that was recommended.

Im 6’2”, weight around 220lbs, and i wore a size 11 northwave legend, but for next season i ordered a pair of 11.5 burton ion.

There are awesome deals to be found for the 156W 156 and 159 banana, 159W is a tad more expensive…

Someone said that a 159 would be more of an allmountain board, 156 would definitely be more playful and that i should go for a wide version.

Hi pailhead,
with size 11 boots you should definitely go with a wide version of whatever board you are planning on buying.
And with your stats you can also easily go with a 159W without it being too much allmountain instead of freestyle.
I think the 156W would be totally noodle-ish with your weight and you do not want that due to the minimal stability you get our of noodles.. that just how noodles are.. anway!

Hope this helped a little, cheers Tobi

Hi Tobi,

Thanks for the reply, but ouch, i already went and ordered a 159 banana. I found it for 300 bucks with shipping. There seems to be a close deal now for the 159w but when i was looking i couldnt even find them at 400 or so.

This is how my 11 norhtwave legend looks like on a 162 trs (256mm). Maybe it wont be so bad with that shrinkage tech on the burton ion?

Well I still think that you will get quite some overhang. But to make sure, you can always make use of our Boot Size Checker!

Now that you already ordered the deck just wait for it to arrive and test your boots live.. you’ll see if it’s too much or not then.

Cheers Tobi

Hi Pailhead.  Hey where in the world did you find the banana at $300?  I cant seem to find them anywhere.  Its odd, I have finally settled on getting that board myself, and my stats on size are almost identical to yours.  though, I am sticking with size 11.
