Hi folks, I’ve been on two boarding trips the last 2 seasons and am absolutely hooked. I’d say I’m not too bad considering I’ve only done 2 weeks in total, certainly my mates say I’m doing well. I’m comfortable riding switch, and can link my turns fine - not tried any jumps yet, though! I’m still enjoying riding groomers and may try a little powder next year (weather permitting).
I used rental gear, and this year, apart from the boots, it wasn’t up to scratch. So I’m looking to buy my first board/bindings/boots combo.

Firstly the board: I’m 6’3”, size 13 UK boot, so I’m looking for something 162+ and in a wide. This narrows down my options already, and I’m thinking about plumping for the RIDE MANIC 2010 164W. It seems to have a pretty good review on this site, is widely available and at a good price too - £200 or thereabouts. I don’t know much about the differing cambers, but I know it’s not too stiff, not too flexible - probably a good footing for a relative beginner. I liked the look of the RIDE CRUSH, but 159w is the largest they make - too small? And the RIDE ANTIC 165W, but I don’t know much about that board.

I’ve also heard good things about the K2 RAYGUN, and this comes in 161W/165W, so is a possibility.

As for bindings, I guess I’ll need L or XL in some cases, but beyond that I have no clue what is good, what will suit - the rental binding were pretty shoddy.

Boots is a simple one - I’d like Boa’s and in a UK13, so I’ll probably go for VANS ENCORE’s or another VANS model - good choice?

Anyway, I wondered if anyone on here may have some other recommendations or advice on these subjects - all is helpful!

Cheers,

Claypole
