Hey guys I’m brand new here looking to get some good advice. I consider myself a beginner rider(blue to black runs) I just came back from a trip to breckenridge where I got to ride a whole week, but on a rental so it wasn’t to great lol. I have riden a little in the past but this trip definitely opened my eyes to how awesome and fun this sport really is. I’m 18 and I’m looking to buy my first board for next years trip. I am 6 ft around 170. I used the board selecta (which I thought was sickkk!) and I came up with the Rossi one and angus. Also need advice with bindings because idk much. I’ve done like a week worth of research on boards and such, but it’s very confusing when your looking at stuff you don’t know much about, so any advice will help me immensely! Thanks a bunch

Hi there Icey,
with the Rossi One and Angus you already got some serious boards in mind!
The Angus is a bit like the more freestyle-ish brother of the One, both come with MagneTraction edges which will provide you with better edgehold on harder or even icey slopes and they both are some of the most recommended boards here at SBR.
Maybe as a first board you should prefer the Angus to the One as it will be a bit more forgiving and easier to initiate turns.
As for the bindings, please check out the binding buying guide at our main page for some general binding knowledge and come back with more detailed questions!
Cheers Tobi

You’re up early Tobi!
No the Angus doesn’t have Magnetraction edges but it still grips on hardpack just fine. It’s definitely one of the most versatile and progressive intermediate/advanced boards out there. Fun in the park and floaty in the pow, it’s a great freestyle board for riding everything. I’ve been riding one all season and it’s super fun. Even after a season riding everyday it looks as good as new, apart from where I hit a rail nose first and dented the edge in and had to repair it, but seriously, this board is fun, progressive and durable.

You might also consider the Rossi Taipan, the K2 Raygun and the Nitro Addict. THese boards are designed to arm beginner / intermediates with the goods to progress all aspects of their riding.

I think I have narrowed down the boards to either the Rossi Angus or the k2 Raygun, Which would be more sutiable for me? Mainly riding groomers and trees, and might get out to the park next year. As for bindings after looking at the binding buying guide, I ‘m looking at the Burton Mission. Any more advice on different bindings would be much appreciated, I see the list of the other 5 bindings on the list of all mountain binds just thought this Burton one caught my eye more.

Checkout the Gnu Rider’s Choice and Neversummer SL they are both superb all-mountain boards.
