I bought K2 2009 Indy bindings 3 years ago, and have been using them consistently each season. after the first season though, they were in pretty bad shape. the straps were all torn up. Could this be the way I ride (park) or just that K2 doesn’t make good bindings? I am trying to decide on what bindings to buy for my next set-up. I would like to stick to K2, but I am a little skeptical.

As far as I know K2 is still putting out some really decent bindings, a friend of mine rides one and is happy with it! Don’t know about how they wear out under heavy park usage, though.
If you decide to get away from K2, check out Union, Drake and Salomon bindings, maybe you like one out of their range!

Cheers, Tobi

Hey bro! Thanks a lot for the reply. I’ll make sure to research K2 a little more, and check out those other bindings. Thanks again!

Sorry to bother you again. I am thinking about buying the Skate banana. Any specific binding suggestions for that?

For sure, Union Contacts or Forum Shakas would be a good fit, because they are designed specifically for reverse camber snowboards.

I was looking at the Drake Fifty (brushed green) bindings, one because they aren’t too expensive, and two because they would look sick with the skate banana, which is the board Im looking at. I really don’t know anything about which bindings ride well with the different types of boards. Any tips on this?

I ride Drakes at the moment, the Supersport and last year’s Czar. The quality and durability of Drake bindings has really improved over the last couple of years and them make some great bindings and the Fifty has footbeds, the same straps as my Czars and a solid highback, so they’ll be perfect. The only issue I have with my Czars is that the convertible toes strap has a lycra type fabric on the inside which means when I wear them in cap strap mode they constantly slip off. I’m planning to bead some silicone sealant on the sinside of the strap to make it stick but I haven’t got round to it. I’m pretty suprised that the issue didn’t get flagged up during product testing.

Hi,

I have k2 formulas from 2009 and mine have worn bad after just 3 full weeks on them. The teeth to do up the binding and the teeth to alter the angle that your feet are at on the board are both eroded. They constantly slip. Any ideas on k2’s return policy?

I also have the drake supersport after Rich’s recommendation and these are much nicer bindings to ride, look, and they have not yet worn at all after 3 weeks out on them this season.

Hey White_Mist,
I don’t really know about the official return policy of K2 but I think that you could at least try getting a refund or replacement. Just drop them an email and explain the situation; also you might want to add some pictures of the worn-out pieces of the binding to underline your point.

Good luck with it, Tobi
