I’m a intermediate to advanced rider looking to get another board. I was thinking between the Never Summer SL or the Libtech Travis Rice C2 BTX
Right now i’m riding a 2008 Burton Custom 156 with Burton Triad Bindings. I want to progress into more ground spins and tricks - butters, ollies, presses, combos of all those etc and get into small and medium jumps. I also want to do the tricks more on the mountain than in the park so I’m looking for a all mtn type board. I might dabble in the park but the trail and off trail areas are more to my tastes at the moment.
I’m a rider on the east coast so I dont get much powder. I’m about 5’8 and 150-160lbs.
I was definitely thinking about getting a shorter board like a 153.
Which board is better and should I even change my length from a 156 or go even shorter than a 153?
I feel like my Custom is tough to flex now as it is and I’m having a hard time doing nose and tail presses but i’m not sure if its just me being a beginner at the tricks or if my board is too stiff. It also just feels kind of long when I spin i feel, like its a lot of effort and on my back side spins I occasionally get the feeling like I’m gonna catch an edge.
Are there other boards I should consider?

Yeah I’m not sure I take either of those boards down to 153… not with your height and weight. If you want to size down a little for park and butters I’d advise you look at the 155 Gnu Danny Kass and the Never Summer Evo 155. These are primaily park boards but will work for some in bounds freeriding too. The flex on both boards is a little softer than their all mountain counter parts the Rice and SL.
