Anybody out there (Rich) have any suggestions for a board that’s similar in flex (medium) and sidecut to the Nitro Team but is lighter?

I love my Team but it’s heavier than I like for spending all day on the jump line. Someone mentioned the Signal OG but I read somewhere that it’s not as poppy as the Nitro Team. The Team is one of the poppiest boards I’ve ever been on. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Phil

Hi Phil,

The only problem I see is that the poppy, lightweight boards tend to have a firmer flex. For lightweight kicker twins I’d look at the Amplid HiDef, Rome Mod, Burton Love and Endeavor Hi5. These boards will absolutely slay the pro-line biut the flex on them is probably more 6/10.

Check them out and let me know if I’m on the right track.

Thanks Rich. That is exactly the problem I am having. I have ridden a Rome Mod this year several times and it is more stiff than the “true medium” flex I am looking for. I like a tail that loads easier like the old cambered K2 Believer or the Nitro Team.

The Endeavor looks cool but I’m afraid it will be just past a true medium flex as the Rome Mod is.

I have also been trying to find out if the new Ride Society UL is in that slightly stiffer Rome Mod range as the old Ride Society was an easy board to pop the tail on it had a lot of flex on kicker lips, more than the old DH2 ironically.

I’ve had some people tell me the Vapor has a forgiving flex and others tell me it pops like crap.

Thanks.

Phil

Rich, I was able to track down an Amplid Hi Def 155 from the Rep here in the States. This board was just as you described it - it doesn’t pop like a full poplar wood core board like a Nitro Team or Signal OG but it still has a ton of boost you just need to adjust to the way the tail works with all of the extra carbon in it etc.

I really love this board. It took a minute to get used to but it absolutely slays the pipe, and it’s technical but fun on the jump line. It has a ton of camber and a razor edge. The mid-sized waist makes it stable and a nice all mountain ride too.

It is by far the fastest base I have ever been on, I just cruise past people on much longer boards on the flats, and it comes in real handy in the pipe.

Had a chance to ride it in pow and I’m not sure why, but it rode great for a 155 in a fresh foot of powder.

Thanks for the recommendation.

Hi Phil,

Stoked that you managed to get hold of a HiDef and that you’re loving your new board.

Amplid decks really are the bomb. Lucky for me they are based in Bavaria about 2hrs drive from where I live so I’m going to hook up with Peter Bauer the owner in the next couple of weeks and demo some of next year’s boards. The last time I rode an Amplid was last season and it was a HiDef 159… it blew me away. I think the best thing about the brand is that they’re a kind of conniseaurs brand, you won’t see a lot of people riding Amplids but when you do see someone on one you know they know their snowboards, a bit of a club.

Glad you like your new board, enjoy the shred.

Rich
