Hi guys, newbie here, but been doing way too much reading and research over the past week. I am currently taking lessons at snowdome and I want to kit myself out to save using the stinking rental gear they give you.
After lots of research I’m sold with K2.
My head is telling me to go for the K2 Anagram as it appears to be one of the best boards on the market for beginners in my price range. However.. my heart is telling me K2 Parkstar. I just love the look of this board compared to the Anagram.
Also there is the Raygun. This seems like it would be a good board for me, but is it going to be hard learning on? I think somebody told me that I wanted a centered board while im learning, is this true?
I am going Bulgaria next month, lots more lessons etc in between and out there. Will this board hinder me at all cruising down the mountain? I see this is mainly a park board but I am not planning on heading in a straight line and bombing it down as fast as I can go.
Will I be able to link turns as easy on this board as the Anagram? Will I be able to carve as good?
So whats your thoughts on this?
Thanks! :)

All mountain I will highly recommend the Raygun… it is the entry level all mountain board in the K2 line up and is super fun to ride.
I rode one yesterday and it was a blast! Great cruiser, you can scope out all sorts of terrain on this board and it has a medium flex so it won’t pop you around a lot.

Thank you for the reply. I agree the Raygun does seem to suit my needs best. My only concern with the Raygun is as it is slightly set back and twin directional is it going to make learning on harder?
I mean, if the Parkstar would be easier to learn on, easier to turn and control etc then I dont mind sacraficing some speed on the mountain. I will only be going down groomed slopes, greens, blues for this board anyway.
What do you think?
Thanks, hopefully I can get a board ordered today! :)

The setback is 3/4” is nothing major. You do sacrifice some switch riding but in the beginning you should focus on developing your dominate riding stance in my opinion.
The Raygun will open up more of the mountain then the Parkstar… it will have more control and float over powder then the Parkstar as well.

Thanks Steve, that has made up my mind Raygun definitely seems to be the board I want.
Now regarding size, the weight bracket for the 156 and 159 is the same. 130-210. I am around 200 and 5’11. Should I go for the shorter board for more control? or go for the 159 as technically, it seems closer to the size I should be getting?
Thanks, your time is much appreciated. :)

159… I’m 5’11” and 170 lbs and 159 is a good all-around size for you.
