Hello there, I’ve had a couple of lessons and would like to buy some of my own gear for my trip to Bulgaria next month.
I am quite heavy for my height I guess…
Weight: 200lbs
Height: 5’11
My ability is beginner, and I just want to be able to get down a mountain without breaking my neck at this point! :)
I looked at the 159 ride agenda (http://www.snowboard-review.com/snowboard_reviews/review/agenda/) but the tech spec says it is for a weight range of 130-180.
So I looked into K2 boards, specifically the Anagram (http://www.snowboard-review.com/snowboard_reviews/review/anagram1/) which seems to be a popular beginners board. Their boards seem to more suited for heavier people. The 161 goes up to 220lbs or something like that.
The problem is I don’t like the graphics of the K2 Anagram compared to the Ride board.
This leaves me with a couple questions:
1. If I went for the 159 ride, will those extra lbs im carrying be a problem?
2. can anyone offer any good alternative boards for my weight/height/ability/use in the same sort of price range?
Thanks

Hey there,
you might like the Nitro Zero Blast with Zero-Camber or the Nitro Prime Agent with regular camber.
Nice design for a fair price, really great for beginners!
The 162 says it’s for 155+ so that should be fine.
What’s your boot size?
Cheers, Tobi

Hi, I really like the design of the Nitro Prime Agent. Whats the difference between reg camber and zero camber?
I’m a size 9 boot by the way.

Size 9 boots are good, no need for a wide version!
Check our basics Section for the beginners guide, at the bottom there is a list of the different camber versions including explanations.
In short: reg Camber does have negative preload so it does have maximum pop and grip, zero camber is a flat profile which is more playful and easier to initiate turns for beginners.
So it’s up to you, go with what you like best.
Cheers

Hi, just read the basics section. I’m guessing I will want a traditional camber as a new rider. I don’t think ill be bombing it down in a straight line for a while yet.
With regards to the Nitro boards they don’t seem to have them from any of the sites I was planning to buy from.
Can you recommend any other beginners board, suitable for my weight/height that K2, Ride, DC etc offer? I am struggling here. Tempted to just go for the Anagram but in my size the green/orange combo on the base is really putting me off. lol :/

The K2 Anagram base is awesome! Like day glow orange and green, it will glow over the snow. I would totally rock that deck. :)
My two cents, I would probably stick you on a reverse cambered board as a beginner. As Tobi mentioned it is easy to turn and more playful at low speeds which is two HUGE things for beginners.
And Tobi you can ignore my comments on small animals in another thread, I thought you were still AWOL. :)
