So I’m fairly new to snowboarding, and I’d definitely still consider myself a beginner. However I moved up into the mountains this year and definitely want to get more into riding. After looking and researching endlessly I’m fairly set on getting a banana rockered board. I’m on the east coast, and I’m pretty sure I want something with magnetraction or similar. At this point I can’t decide between a skate banana, the gnu carbon credit and the salomon drift rocker.
I want something thats good at buttering around and hitting rails and small jumps, but I also want to be able to go ride around on the groomers. I have no idea which of the 3 boards would best serve my needs.
I’m 5’6’‘, 140 pounds and a size 11 boot, which poses another problem. What size board do I get? Do I need to get a wide?
Thanks,
Alex

For riding small jumps and jibs on the East Coast a reverse camber board with mag is a good idea. A board like the Skate Banana or McKink would be ideal but also check out the Arbor Westmark, the Griptech edges are a bit like Magnetraction.

Cool, I haven’t even looked at the westmark before.
However what size will I need? I’m a size 11 boot, but only 5’6’‘. The skate banana in 152 has a 25.2 waist, will that be wide enough or will I need to find a wider board?
Thanks

Yeah I’d suggest you look at a slightly wider board. How much do you weigh? The Burtner Box Scratcher has a slightly wider waist at 25.5cm or you could look at the 153W Skate Banana which has a waist of 26.1cm or the Burton Blunt 153W with a waist of 25.6cm, although the Frostbite edges aren’t really as good as Magnetraction.

Hey again and thanks for the help, I weigh 140 lbs.
I actually just decided to settle on the gnu carbon credit, I rode a 150 version of it today with no issues.
