Here’s my deal. I got my first snowboard last year (burton clash). I’m thinking of buying a new one because I’m going to be spending most of the day in the park and I don’t think my board is a good park board. I also think its a little too big for me. Its a 156 and I’m 5’11 130 lbs. Could you guys recommend me some good park boards that aren’t over $450 because I really have no idea where to start. Also, if my new board I get isn’t burton whill my burton bindings still work or will i have to buy new bindings aswell? Thanks in advance

One more thing. I was just reading over some other threads and I didn’t really see anyone recommending any burton boards. Is there something bad about them that I don’t know about?

Anybody? I did some more research and I think I narrowed it down to these:

K2 Jibpan Rocker 153
K2 WWW 152
Rome Artifact 153
Burton Whammy Bar 153

Any thoughts on these boards and what is the difference between the jibpan rocker and the normal jibpan?

We have quite a few Burton board recommendations in the forum…  nothing wrong with them at all.

The Burton Whammy Bar in 153 would be a great choice especially for jibbing…  v-rocker will help you with rails and low speed jibbing.  A step up would be the Hero as it has more pop from the jumper cables tech for…  jumping. :)  However that is a pricey board so I’m not sure if that leaves your budget.

The K2 WWW is a jib-stick like the Whammy Bar…  more of a rounded park deck in the K2 line is the Parkstar (which I have and love, awesome board for cruising and hitting everything in sight).

The Rome Artifact has a solid park following but I would recommend the Artifact Rocker…  you lose a bit of pop from the cambered version I imagine but what you gain in manoeuvrability and rail/jib ability for the park is worth it in my mind.

K2 Jibpan is a 2010 (last season) model.  I think the Fastplant may have replaced it this season but I’m not sure…  it’s a higher end freestyle, a more beefed up Parkstar with more carbon for pop, harshmellow dampening in the bindings for comfort and a fast base.  I think they created a special version which may be cambered however I’m not sure.

So the jibpan is better than the parkstar and the other ones I listed? If so I think I might get it because it would be cheeper than the parkstar anyway. One website I found it on has it listed for $330 for an 09-10 model but it doesn’t say rocker. Another website has it as a jibpan rocker for $420 2010 model. Do you think there is a big difference between these two or should I just buy the cheaper one? Also, would a 153 be good for my size (5’11’’ 135 lbs)?

The 2009 model is cambered so the 2010 model is the way to go.

I wouldn’t say it’s better then other boards listed…  they all have different features so it’s up to see what works for you.

And the 153 would be good, you can go longer if you think you’re going to gain a few more pounds. :)

I would go for the Parkstar over the Jibpan, Tom rode it a couple of years ago and thought it was an absolute noodle. The Parkstar was a great board for riding around the hill and hitting the park.

Alright then. I think I might pull the trigger on the parkstar. One last thing, is the parkstar soft enough if I wanted to do butters and things like that?

Most deffinitely. If you can’t butter the Parkstar you need to get to the Gym. Probably a 4/10 on the flex front.
