Hey I hate to be just another person asking for advice but i cant find a better place or person to ask, im a beginner and im choosing between a 2010 ride kink 155cm, a 2010 ride agenda 152cm, and a 2010 ride antic 158cm, im 5’9”-5’10” 155lbs. im semi new to snowboarding, looking for a good board for some jibs, and boxes, but will still be alright to free ride as well.

EDIT: i am now looking into the 09 burton blunt. Still looking for info for first question but what size would you recomend 151 153wide or 155(for the burton)?

Don’t apologise for posting on the forum, that’s what it’s here for. Although I do need to rearrange the sections so that users can find similar threads… by the by, to your question.

My suggestion would be to go for the Burton Blunt 155, this will be short enough for riding rails and boxes and offer you enough versatility with the V-Rocker for a bit of powder if you are luck enough to get some.

Oh yeah, that’s dependent on your foot size. What boot size have you got?

Im also very interested in buttering, and I am now choosing between the Blunt and The 2009 Burton Fix. I wear a size 10 btw. thanks for the help!

Can’t find a Burton “Fix” on their website, is this a model from some years ago?

With size 10 boots you need to carefully check whether your boots fit on a regular-wide board or just go with a (mid-)wide deck. You do not want to have too much overhang!

Neither the Fix or the Blunt are good freeride boards. They’re built primerily for people who want to jib around and ride rails, so if you eventually want to rail long carves and hit backcountry lines and cliffs these boards won’t cut it. If you’re happy to potter about and hit jibs and jumps in the sub 10m area then both the Fix and the Blunt are ideal. The Blunt has a lot of loyal followers because it’s price point is good and it’s spec is fairly comprehensive it also doesn’t have the ICS binding system which means you’re not stuck with Burton bindings. The Fix is kind of like the Blunt but even more jib focused, scoop tips and a softer flex are cool for presses and butters and the P-Rocker which is flat between the feet and rockered at the tips is in my opinion a bit more stable and easier on rails than V Rocker. Both boards will be fine for boosting your freestyling skills but like I said, you won’t have much fun charging on anything other than good conditions. Ice and hardpack… forget it.

well if i do freeride it will be on mostly groomed trails. i have a soft spot for dc boards, i was looking at the
DC bdr or bender done right which is flat between the bindings and has a soft rocker style nose and tip, its already pre bent or whatever to make presses and butters easier. the other dc board i was lookin at was the DC xfb

Have you thought about the DC Tone or are you looking exclusively at 2009/10 boards?

Th XFB looks perfect for all mountain riding but with a focus on park riding. I’m afraid I know nothing about the BDR. The only issue with last year’s DC’s is that they had a few warranty issues, particularly with the PJB. The topsheets were quite brittle and cracked in quite a few instances. If the rumour mill is right they changed their factory this year. I wouldn’t let it put you off a bargain though, if it happens and the board needs warrantying they’ll probably send you this year’s equivalent… everyones a winner!

Beating a dead horse to say the least, but ill NEVER be in powder..EVER. and when i am riding on the groomed trails ill be concentrating on spins, ollies, buttering, not speed. Thats the only reason ive been leaning towards the burton Fix or bdr because everywhere ive looked ive found information on how they would be good for it, thegoodride.com has some detailed reviews of both dc boards. If theres any other jib/flexible boards that would be good for freestyling and buttering mostly for $330 or less out side suggestions are also very welcome!

I really couldn’t tell you what the differences are between the FIX 09/10 and 10/11. Most probably it’s only graphics. Although I know the 2010 and 2011 DC PBJ are vastly different, reverse camber, new core profile, even built in a different factory.
